RED 2 Trailer #2

There are two movies I have to see in theatres this summer.  One being Man of Steel.  The second being RED 2.  After watching the second trailer > here or below I think it will be a summer sleeper hit.  When I first blog about this movie back in January it was going be out August 2, 2013.  Good news we don’t have to wait that long to see it.  The release date has been moved up.  It will now be out July 19, 2013.  Have watched this trailer three times so far and think this will be much better than the first.  Looks like it will have the right mix of action and comedy.  So looking forward to see this.

The Last Stand Review

Now that The Last Stand is out on DVD I had to check it out.  This is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first movie back to acting and action movies.  Think it was good choose to make a come back with this movie.  It starts off strong with a very cool bad guy escape scene.  It had a interesting FBI/cop show feel to it.  Then the country small town stuff with some comedy mixed in.  Some of that was funny.  Johnny Knoxville is very good at playing the comedy relief.  Has the story moves long it starts to be come very silly.  The bad guys are your standard one side goons.  Now it is time for the big shoot out scenes.  When they were well done but took the story to a way different place, a very silly place.  Arnold does use some one liners.  But they were kind of given away in the trailers.  Of course at the end there is a big fist fight.  Then the movie is over with some more feel good comedy.  Even thou all kinds of people were killed, the town is all shot up.  But no biggie.  Think that is what makes the movie just ok.  It starts of very serious then getting sillier.  How ever still entertaining.

Glad I didn’t play to see this in the theatres.  While it is fun to watch.  The story fall into the same trap just about every action movie does.  This is a rent if you are looking for a silly but a fun watch.

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox Trailer

The trailer for the next DC Universe Animated movie, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.  Like all the others before it is based off of a graphic novel, which is called Flashpoint.  It is hard to believe that this will be the 17th DC Universe Animated movie.  Owen them all and will own this one when it comes out July 30, 2013.  The Flash is all ways a fun character to watch in the other movies and TV shows.  So it is nice to see that he is the star in this own movie.  The plot of this story is (source),

“When time travel allows a past wrong to be righted for the Flash and his family, the event’s temporal ripples prove disastrous, creating a fractured, alternate reality where the Justice League never formed, and Superman is nowhere to be found. Amidst a new world being ravaged by a fierce war between Wonder Woman’s Amazons and Aquaman’s Atlanteans, Flash must team with a grittier, more violent Batman and government agent Cyborg to restore the continuity of Flash’s original timeline.”

These movies all ways get better and better.  This one will be not different.  Can wait to check it out.  For now take a look at the trailer > here or below.

New Air Filter

Back when I had  the inspection done on my 2006 Yamaha XT 225 in early May.  Order a new air filter.  New it was getting pretty bad.  It has only been cleaned once since.  So thought it might be time to just buy a new one.  It cost a little under $9.00 so it makes more senses just to replace it then try and clean the original one.  So today (May 28, 2013) I put the new one in.  It is one of those easy jobs any one can do.  Once you get the side fairing off.  All you do in unscrew the air box cover.  The pull out the air filter.  The next step in to put the right kind of oil onto the new air filter.  It key is to get it wet but not dripping.  You squeeze into it.  Do not ring it out.  That will damage the filter.  After that is done you take the plastic holder off the old filter and put the new filter on it.  Then put it all back together.  This is only about a five minute job.  Why pay someone when you can do stuff like this yourself.  Check out the pictures below and you will see how dirty the old one is.

Superman/Batman: Finest Worlds Review

Finished reading Superman/Batman: Finest Worlds last night so it is time for a review.  Picked this hard cover graphic novel up a few weeks ago while I was in Halifax.  This book is a collection of three Superman/Batman stories.  The first one is very interesting.  It has both their fathers meeting up before Superman comes to earth and Batman (Bruce Wayne) was born.  The second story is a bit weird.  In the comic book world any thing can happen.  This story has “the Li’l League” a miniature version of the Justice League coming into Superman’s and Batman’s world causing all kinds of trouble.  The third and last story is the best.  It has Batman getting Superman’s powers and Superman becoming an average person.  The main plot of the story is how Batman comes to use and get out of hand with Superman’s powers.  How is tries to stop all the worlds crime not just in Gotham City.

Enjoyed reading this very much.  The art is super clean and sharp.  While the second story is a bit silly compared to the other two.  It is still a great graphic novel to add to my small but growing collection.

LEGO Batman: The Movie – DC Super Heroes Unite Review

A few days back picked up a DVD copy of LEGO Batman: The Movie – DC Super Heroes Unite.  Got around today to watching  it.  First off it looks great.  If you have every played any of the LEGO games it looks like that but much sharper.  Just like the games it is all about the comedy.  Not just what they say but in the background there is all ways something silly going on.  This movie is full of that.  While this movie is aim at the younger set I still enjoyed watching it.  Mostly because I am a Batman and DC fan.  The disc some with some nice extras.  It has a guy taking to some kids on how he makes stop motion with LEGO.  Then there are the winning entries from a LEGO DC Universe super hero video contest.  Watched them, they were pretty good.  There is all some bonus cartoons on there.  Didn’t watch those yet.  Think there are from the new Batman show, Batman the Brave and the Bold.  Another cool thing is if you buy the DVD or t he Blu-ray it comes with a Superman Mini LEGO figure.

Did enjoy watching this.  If you have kids, pretty sure they will love it.  How ever this is only a buy if you are a fan like myself.  This is a strong rent if you are looking for a light hearted take on the Superhero world.

Just Cause 2

Picked up a copy of Just Cause 2.  It was in the cheap bin at Wal-mart for $20.  Was kind of looking at buying a new game while I wait for The Last of Us to come out (June 14, 2013).  Remember playing the demo for Just Cause 2 back in March 2010.  All so remember the demo was fun.  Have let to try the full game yet since I just got it.  But I have to get my Sega Genesis out of the way.  Have been playing that the past week.  Had a bit of a retro game bug.  It was fun to play the old games but I miss the 3D open word games with saves.  Will be back with an update on the game.

[Update]  Have played about two hours far.  At first it took me a little while to get use to the controls.  They are a bit different than other 3rd person action games I have played.  This is one of those open world, do anything games.  So far the coolest thing is the grappling hook.  You can pretty much do anything with it.  Climb tall buildings, take bad guys out and attack it to any vehicle. Like the game so far.  The only complaint is the icons and text are too small for my likening.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Volumes

A few posts back did a review of the reboot comic of the Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Change is Constant Volume 1.  Really enjoyed so last night ordered the other four volumes.  Bought them though Amazon.ca.  They had three of the four in stock.  They didn’t have Volume 3: Shadows of the Past in stock.  One thing Amazon does let other sellers, sell throw their site.  They list other sellers selling this book new and used.  So that is were I order volume 3.  It ended up costing me more because the book cost more at the seller plus there was shipping and handling fee.  If you buy so much though Amazon they offer free shipping.  So I got three of the books bought and shipped for about the same price as just one though the other seller.  They should be here some time next week.  Would have waited for Amazon to get this one back in stock if it was the last one in the volume but its number three.  Would be missing out on the story line if I had waited.

New Whose Line Is It Anyway? Soon

Back in March it was announced that Whose Line is it Anyway? was coming back to TV on The CW network.   This is one of the funniest show ever.  So happy it is coming back.  Now we know when it will air, July 16, 2013.  The show will have the same set up but with a few small changes.  There is a new host, Aisha Tyler.  It will have Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, and Wayne Brady will be back with a special guest each week.  Found a small preview that Colin Mochrie posted on Twitter.  You can see that > here or below.  Of course they all look older but they are still very funny.  The only thing that might end up bugging me is the camera panning to Aisha Tyler while she does this fake laughing.  That might get old quick.  Time will tell.  How ever can’t wait to see new episodes of the show.

Sega Genesis

Have got the retro game bug.  Dug out my old Sega Genesis.  Have not played this in a very long time, think some time back in late 90’s.  How ever did/do play some of the games on my Sega Genesis Nomad.  Once I found it and the power cord for it.  Cleaned the dust off, then hook it up to my TV it worked great.  First tried Comix Zone.  This is one of my favourite games.  Even thou it is difficult.  I just put in the invincibility cheat.  That is what is great about these old games most of then had cheat codes.  At first the game didn’t work so I tired Vectorman 2.  Remember liking this game, then remembered why I stopped playing it.  It was because I couldn’t get past the second level.  Keep getting lost.  Have know idea were to go.  Put Comix Zone back in once it the dust was nocked out of it.  It worked great.  Mind you it doesn’t look the best because these games were not designed for HDTV’s.  Next I tried Batman Returns.  Forgot how bad this game is.  It is very difficult.   Have a few more games to try.  List below.
