Restrepo Review

What to check out a documentary.  Has heard good things about Restrepo.  Have hear that it didn’t take sides, it is what it is.  Well after watching it I beg to differ.  While it has no narration.  The story was told by interviews and by footage filmed during 15 months.  While is is nice to see how army works for real not a Hollywood interpretation.  My problem is the guys in the interviews say they have trouble sleeping even break down in tears after seen there friends get hurt or die.  Which is very understandable.  What gets me is, after a air plane bombing some children were hurt and other people were killed.  Yet they they acted indifferent.  Later in a fire fight they are cheering as they see a guy getting shot to pieces.  I don’t get it.

It is nice to see how a platoon works for real.  While you might hear great things about this documentary.  I say pass or if all else a rent if there is nothing else you want to check out.

ReBoot: The Definitive Mainframe Edition

One of my favourite things to kill some time is to flip though the DVD sections on Amazon.ca just to see what’s new or coming out.  On June 28, 2011 a box set containing all four seasons plus extras of one of the best shows ever, ReBoot. will be out.  The box set is called ReBoot: The Definitive Mainframe Edition.  Amazon has a very good deal. They want $48.99.  Looked around others places and they want a lot more than that.  Not sure if I will pick it up but is very cool thou.

Dentist

My face is still frozen three hours after I got a filling.  This is only my second filling so I kind of forgot what it felt like.  The first needle wasn’t too pleasant.  After that it was fine until they put this plastic/rubber thing in my mouth.  It is some kind of shield I guess.  Felt like I was going to suffocate.  When again I might be over reacting.  Hopefully this will be my last filling.  Not a fan, lol.

Ip Man 2 Review

Just gave Ip Man 2 a watch.  Have not seen the first movie but it does not matter since the first of this movie give a quick recap.  Being filmed in Cantonese it has English subtitles.  Which I am fine with.  It is just the version I seen the subtitles were odd.  It seemed like some one put the script in to an online translator, then copied and pasted.  That being said the story is easy to fallow.  All so I watch these action movies for the fight scenes.  Which are just awesome.  This is very little wire work in it.  The fights are more real and grounded with some over the top though in.

Well wroth checking out for sure.  The fight scenes are hard to top.  If you don’t like reading subtitles you might want to pass.

Simon’s Cat in ‘Hop It’

There is a new Simon’s Cat video.  This one is called Hop it.  Simon meet’s a rabbit.  This guys cartoons and animations are just too funny.  If you have never seen any of the videos you need to watch them.  They will make you laugh for sure.

Canada’s Worst Handyman 6

One of my favourite show is back May 2, 2011. Canada’s Worst Handyman season six will have the handyman fixing up an old motel in Niagara Falls.  The ideas is to turn it into a retreat for newlyweds.  These shows are funny has hell.  I am not Mr. fix it but I have more of a clue than these people who think they are handy.  So mark May 2 on your calendar.

Happy Easter 2011

Wish every one that celebrates, Happy Easter.  Had a very wonderful dinner.  The weather is nice.  The Sun is shining.  It is around 14c.  I think I am going to go for a motorcycle ride.  That might keep me awake after all the food I ate.

Foster The People – Pumped Up Kicks

Have another song I would like to share.  Some of you might have hear it.  When I first hear it all got the the end of it.  So I had to look it up.  The song is called Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People.  It seems to have this old school vibe to it mixed with a modern sound to.  I just really like it.  May be you will to.  Give it a listen.

Time Laps

Have decide to enter the video contest I talked about yesterday.  In short it is a contest put on Gowalla.com to make a video for the song Location by Freelance Whales.  You can read more about that > here.  Any who.  Was trying to come up with some ideas.  Have a few, then I thought some time laps would be cool to add it.  Never made a time laps video before so gave it a go today.  Used my new GoPro HD Hero 960 since it lets you take pictures very so many seconds.  Got some really nice pictures of the sun with the clouds moving by.  I How it has been done before but I have never tried.  It took me a lot longer than I thought it would to edit.  It did turn out really good thou.  Not going to post it since it is part of the video I am making for the contest.

Video Contest

I have come across a lot of video contest.  Most of them the rules didn’t allow me to enter, the time frame was not good or there was know way I can pull off a good video.  Checking FaceBook updates today there was one from Freelance Whales.  Have posted about this band in the past.  Really like their songs.  Well they and the website Gowalla.com are putting on a video contest.  The rules are pretty simple.  They want to make a video about exploring, discovering and sharing with friends and family.  Using Freelance Whales song Location.   The way I understand it is the contest will run the duration of their North American tour.  April 10 to June 12, 2011.  Once you are done your video you can upload it to YouTube or Vimeo.  Send the link to Gowalla.com or post the link in the comment section of the contest post.  Which is > here.  Check it out.  Plan to make one now.  Just need to think up some ideas.
