Drive Review

Have wanted to see Drive and now that it is out on DVD that is what I did.  Man this movie is awesome.  Haven’t seen any thing like it before.  The opening is pure genius.  Then the tension builds and builds with a very cool sound track.  When the action does kick in which it greats pretty gory.  Didn’t see that coming. The acting was top notch.  Enjoy this movie very much.

Think this movie will go down as cult classic sitting next to the likes of Pulp Fiction and the like.  Very highly recommend checking this one out.  Can pretty much guaranty you have never seen a movie like this.

Napoleon Dynamite TV Show

Episode three of the Napoleon Dynamite TV show aired last night (Jan 29, 2012).  If you haven’t heard of it, it is a cartoon based of the movie of the same name.  It is one of my all time favourite movies. So I was happy to see this show.  Didn’t see episode two but one and three were great.  The show has the same cast as the movie so that is a big plus.  While the show does so more over the top stuff it still has the same level of humour that make Napoleon Dynamite so funny.  Looking on Wikipedia they say there will be six episodes.  Two more airing in February and one in March.  Hope this show gets picked up for more episodes.

The Golf War

Not to sure if I have talked about Freddiew videos before.  Which are awesome by they way.  One of their newest ones is called The Golf War.  The basic set is a Modern Warfare like game set up on a golf course.  It is funny, silly and awesome all rolled into one.  if you have never seen any of their videos you need to check them out on their YouTube channel.  There are will over a 100 videos to watch.  They all so have behind the scenes stuff on their second YouTube channel.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Review

Finished off the main story line of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations last night (Jan 27, 2012).  Have said it a few times before, I love these games.  This one is now different.  While this game is more or less like the last two.  It takes some things way and adds some new things.  It is still very fun to play.  Didn’t seem as big as Brotherhood was but there is still lots to do.  The story line was more straight forward.  Has one of the best ending missions of all the games I have ever played.  Was very fun.

Enjoyed this game very much.  Can’t wait to got back in and get all the stuff I missed.  On the down side didn’t like it as much as the last two.  If this is your first try at the Assassin’s Creed games I say get number two and Brotherhood first because you will not really know what is going on.  You can pick those ones up pretty cheap now.  One more thing.  Don’t want to give any thing way so will keep it vague.  It ends with another cliff hanger.  Makes me mad but I will be getting the next one for sure.

Queen: Days Of Our Lives Documentary

Just watched the documentary, Queen: Days of our Lives.  It is now out on DVD and Blu-ray this week, January 24, 2012.  Had know idea this was even made until I was going though the new DVD releases of the week.  Have all ways liked there music and still listen to it to this day.  Wanted to see this so I did a search to find out more.  It was made for TV in two parts telling the story of 40 years of Queen.

Lucked out and found someone has posted it to YouTube (part one is below, follow the links at the end of each part to see the next).  Have to say is is a very good documentary.  Starts from the very beginning.  From how they started out right up to the death of Freddie Mercury and then a bit more to what they are up to now.   Every one in the world knows a few Queen songs so you can’t go wrong watching this.

Gotye – Somebody That I Used To Know

First heard the song Somebody that I used to know by Gotye from the cover version done by Walk Off the Earth.  In the cover version where five of them play the song on one guitar.  See that > here.  It made the rounds round the net.  They were even on Ellen.  A week or so later filling though the channel and landed on the music one.  The count down was on.  The real version of the songs video was playing.  The video is a bit different but hay the song is awesome.

Saints Row: The Third

Got a change to try out Saints Row: The Third on the Xbox 360.  I own the second game in the series, it is an ok game.  These games are known for the over the top game play and what not.  Well The Third does this the best.  From the moment it started up and playing the first few missions we were having a blast.  We were laugh non stop at all the silliness.  Has some of the best opening missions I have ever seen.  The game runs and looks so much better than the second one.  Seems to be more fun as well.  All so got to just run around and do stupid stuff that was just as fun.  Now I am thinking about pick up this game.  Just have to get though the other games on my list first.  If you are looking to check this one out.  I think it is well worth it.

Underworld: Awakening Review

Just got back from watching Underworld: Awakening which was in 3D.  Not sold on the whole 3D thing but that is a rant for another day.  Have to say I have only watched the first Underworld movie when that came out back in 2003.  If I remember right didn’t really like it that much. This is why I didn’t watch the others.  Well I was nicely surprised that I liked Awakening.  It started off with a nice bring everyone up to speed on what went on in the past movies.  Then it starts and keeps a good pace of action mixed with little bit of story then followed by more cool action.  Every bogged down once.  Which I like to see in an action movie.

Enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would.  Think I would have liked it more if it wasn’t only playing in 3D.  Going have to go back in check out the other movies in the series.  A friend was saying they were just as good.

Extreme Frontiers: Book

Was checking out my Facebook news feed and there was a post saying Extreme Frontiers: Canada DVD is available to buy off of Amazon.  Well if you live in the UK.  Want to see this show.  Not sure if or when it will air here in Canada.  May be the DVD will come out at some point here, I hope.  There is some good news the book is available pre-order on Amazon.ca > here.  Will be buying this book for sure.  Have all his other books.  Just not sure if I want to pre-order.  The book will be out May 1, 2012.

Game of Thrones

Once again talking about Game of Thrones.  Been reading the first book and really enjoying it.  While I was reading then thinking about the show.  The show follows the book very closely.  Even using the same dialog.  Not many movies or shows do this so it is great to see.  Season two of the show starts in April 2012.  Hoping to have the first book read by then because I do believe the second season based off of the second book.  Not hundred percent sure on that though.

On they official Game of Thrones YouTube channel they have all kinds of season two production dairy videos.  Which is pretty cool.  There is a video (posted below) that is a wrap up trailer of season one that is awesome.  This is a good video to show any one what and how great the show is.   Remember season one is out on Blu-ray and DVD March 6, 2012.  Then season two starts  April 2012.
