Happy New Year 2015

Want to wish every one a Happy New Year.  2014 was another great year.  Looking forward to an even better 2015.  Heading into January will be the eighth year for this blog.  It is so true the older you get the years seem to go by so fast.  About some time in the end of January early February (If I post every day) will mark the 2500th post.  Find that number a bit staggering.  Will have to celebrate or something when I hit that number.  Want to thank all who have found my blog and a bigger thank you to those who come back.  Happy New Year.

New Year’s Goal

I don’t make New Year’s resolution.  How ever this year making a New Year’s goal.  Have made a few post in the past about making a game.  So my goal for 2015 is to have a complete game made and out for people to try.  Have a few ideas what the game I want to make.  The base idea is to have an exploration/adventure world with a little bit of combat.  Will be using RPG Maker VX Ace.  Started working on a tutorial back in October.  Might have to start over since I forget most of it.  Will be back with updates with the progress.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Review

There has been a lot of negative things said around the 2014 reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  I am not one of those people.  More opened minded on change of a Franchise.  Franchises over time have to change they can’t stay the same and hope new people will jump on board.

This may be a new take on the Ninja Turtles but all the same things that made all the other version awesome are in there.  We all know how this big budget movies are going to end.  The fun part is there ride getting there.  It was a fun ride for sure.  The story was compacted and fast moving.  There was same backstory but they didn’t dwell on for too long.  There are some nods to the first movie and the old cartoon which were nice.

Over all this is a very fun movie to watch.  There are only two things I didn’t like.  One is the Microsoft/Window/Skype product placement.  There other is Michelangelo was bit irritating is spots.  I say forget what people are saying about the movie when they haven’t seen it and give it a watch.

Dear Mr. Watterson Review

Was going though the Netflix lists and seen Dear Mr. Watterson.  Mr. Watterson is the creator of Calvin and Hobbes.  While this comic strip only ran for ten years it was and still super popular today.  Must admit have only seen a few strips mostly on the internet.  So thought this documentary would be a good watch.  It was well made with lots of interviews.  A few minutes in realized it is more about talking to fan of comic and what it means to them.  So if you are looking for more about the man or the comic strip this is the that kind of documentary.

Was an interesting watch.  If you are a fan of Calvin and Hobbes check it out because this documentary is all about the fans and there interpretation of what it means to them.

Roku Streaming Stick

May months ago made a post taking about the Roku HDMI Streaming Stick.  Now that I have Netflix and want to be able to use that on another TV.  I use my PS4 on my TV.  So bought  the Roku for a second TV.  The setup was all most painless.  Once you have it plugged into the TV and setup with the wireless network.  It gives you a code that you have to put in on your Roku account.  First you have to make account which is pretty standard.  Until you come to the payments option.  They want your credit card info.  Not a fan of give out that info.  Thought I was out of luck then seen you can tie it you a Pay Pal account.  So that is what I did.  When that’s done you input the code on the TV and it does its thing. That is pretty much it.  Login to Netflix and was good to go.

Merry Boxing Day 2014

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Christmas.  Last year there was all kinds of snow.  This year however was a bit warm with lots of rain and wind.  As all ways the food was awesome.  Didn’t over eat.  Which made it more enjoyable.  Received a very nice book called Inside HBO’s Game of Thrones: Season 3 & 4.   A few years back received the first book.  This one is great.  Full a behind the scenes info and pictures.  As well as pictures from the show.  Must confess the picture of the partridge (in a pear apple tree) was taken early in the month.  Have to share it because it turned out nice.  Looking forward to having hot turkey sandwich’s for dinner.

  

  

Merry Christmas 2014

Want to wish everyone and their families a Merry Christmas.  I hope every one has the best one ever.  Eat till you can’t eat any more.  That is all ways the best part.  There is all ways something about Christmas dinner where you have to go back for thirds.

 

 

Johnny Reid – Winter Star

Back at the beginning of December talked about Johnny Reid’s Christmas CD, A Christmas Gift To You.  And how it is my new favourite Christmas CD.  All the songs are here are great.  The song I am taking about today, Winter Star.   It was written by him which makes it a new Christmas song.  Which is an awesome song.  Up beat and very catchy.  Well worth your time .  Check it out > here or below.

A Muppet Family Christmas

My all time favourite Christmas special is A Muppet Family Christmas.  Many years ago picked up a copy of this on VHS.  Watched it every year for years.  Was all ways on the look out for a DVD copy never found one.  Did “find” a copy on the internet.  How ever today is a good day.  Found it on YouTube > here or below.  Most of the time these shows would be taken down.  So enjoy it while it lasts.

Top Gear Patagonia Special Trailer

Not sure why I haven’t posted this earlier.  There is a trailer out now for Top Gear’s Patagonia special.  The trailer is their trademark short but pack a lot of awesome in.  You can see the trailer > here or below.  The special will air over two nights. Part one will air December 27, 2014 which is a Saturday.  Then on Sunday December 28 part two will air.  This Christmas special will have the guys, “attempt a 1600-mile epic journey through Patagonia to the most southerly city in the world, ferried by a trio of distinctly ropey sports cars.”
