Detonation Films

Have been wanting to try to add some special FX’s into a video project for a long time now.  Looking into how to do it and what not is cool.  Lots of place offer cool FX’s, like gun shots and fire.  But they want you to by them.  Well if I was heavy into make stuff with them I would pay.  Found a site by accident that offers some FX’s for free, Detonation Films.com.  When get some free time, I plan to give it a try.

DiRT 3 Group B Rally Trailer

There is a new trailer out for DiRT 3, called Group B Rally.  It has to be there coolest trailer let.  They used lots of slow-mo and a nice song/soundtrack.  So looking forward to picking this game up.  May 24, 2011 is the day.  Put it on your calendar.

The Thunder Glide

Was checking out Kijiji.ca just to see what motorcycles are up for sale.  Then I seen an ad for the 2011 Cape Breton Bikefest draw motorcycle, The Thunder Glide.  They had some new pictures, (below).  The bike was made by the guys at Torque Speed Shop.  Didn’t know where they were located so I did some searching.  It turns out they are right here in Sydney.  Which is very cool.  Might have to go over to there shop one day and check them out.

YouTube VS. Vimeo

I’ll start of saying that I have been using YouTube since 2006.  It has grown and improved a 1000 times over the years.  Will continue to use the site for my videos.  Was a bit disappointed with how my latest video (below) turned out.  It wasn’t as clear as I hoped for.  May be I should have have deleted it and tried again.  Any who, decided to give Vimeo a try since it comes recommend for HD videos.  Uploaded the same video as YouTube and it looks much better. The Vimeo copy is below as well.

When comparing what each site offers for free YouTube is by far the best choose.  Vimeo lets you uploaded 500MB a week and only one HD video a week.  You can upload more SD videos as long as you are under 500MB a week.  Of course if you play you will get more.  YouTube the file size has to be smaller then 2GB and less then 15 minutes.  To see the differences I am talking about watch the video below.

GoPro HD Hero 960 Test Video

Yesterday I made a post how about bought a GoPro HD Hero 960.  And that I made a shot video to test it out.  Well it is uploaded to YouTube.  It turned out all right the picture is a bit bumpy or up/down that is because I was walking with it.  The camera is meant to be used while riding some thing or put on a car.  As for the picture quality is very nice on my computer.  Once it was uploaded to YouTube is lost a lot of quality.  I think it might not have been finished possessing yet.  Going to try uploading it to Vimeo to compare the difference.   All so took some move video today of me sledding.  We see how that turns out.

GoPro HD Hero 960

Picked up a GoPro HD Hero 960 yesterday (March 25, 2011).  I have been eyeballing one of these for awhile now.  Gave it a try today.  Made a small video (Being uploaded to YouTube, will posted it tomorrow).  It turned out all right.  All so picked up the Roll Bar Mount for it.  Once I get my motorcycle on the go.  I am sure I will get all kinds of good video.  Since that is what these cameras are designed for.

The Greatest Movie Ever Sold

There is a new documentary coming out by Morgan Spurlock called The Greatest Movie Ever Sold.   It is about branding, advertising and product placement in movies and what not.  Morgan has a good senses of humour, so it should be good.  Always had an interests in product placement.  Looking forward to checking this one out.  Not sure when it will be out.  IMDB says it will be out April 22, 2011 in limited release.  I guess I will have to wait for the DVD because I don’t think this will be in a theatre near me.

WWE All Stars Demo

Gave the demo for WWE All Stars.  This is the newest in game in the WWE’s over the top arcaded wresting games.   The game will be a mix of old and new superstars.  What is cool is that Macho Man is in it.  I do believe this is the first time he has been in a video game.  The demo is pretty basic.  They give you one match type and two wresters to choose from, Rey Mysterio and Ultimate Warrior.  The game is lets you pull of some crazy moves very easily.  There are lots of combs for the diehards.  But I think that the game will be easy to pick up and play.  It will be out March 29, 2011.

Get Low Review

I remember seeing a interesting looking poster on some website for the movie Get Low.   Forgot all about it then saw it again.  Checked out the trailer, the movie looked good so today I gave it a watch.  This movie is much better than good it is great.  The simplest version of the story is an old guy lives by himself the woods for 40 years.  He knows he is dying.  He decided to have a funeral party.  So he can be there to hear stories people have about him.  Might sound like a simple movie it gets more complicated and more interesting than that.

Highly recommend watching this movie.  It put a smile on my face.  The movie full of awesome acting.  The setting, the story, the music all rolled into was was perfect.  The funeral party sounds like a good idea.  A lot more fun than a wake.

Cadbury Creme Egg

Had my first Cadbury Creme Egg of the year.  Man these things are so good but pricey.  So this year I bought a pack of six.  They are cheaper that way.  That should hold me over for awhile, lol.  The pack came with two Caramilk eggs.  Have never tired one of these before.  Hope they are good as the original.
