Far Cry 3 Multiplayer/Co-Op

Back again talking about Far Cry 3.  Have pretty much done all you can do in the single player.  Just about half of the idols left and may be go after some of the trophies.  So decided to give the multiplayer a try.   It was ok.  Didn’t find it fun.  Like most games now a days it has the Call of Duty elements to  it.   With all the levelling up and unlocking stuff.  Only played one round of team deathmatch.   Thought I would give co-op a try.  Once I got into a match it was pretty fun.  Only played one part of a mission but it work and play great.  Going to go and give it another try.  Just like if the multiplayer you level up and stuff as well.  Would like to try all the co-op missions just to see how good it can be.  Think I will download the free missions they put out last week.

Extreme Frontiers: Canada

Good news, the Charley Boorman adventure, Extreme Frontiers: Canada is finally going to air here in Canada.  This is the trip he took back in the summer of 2011.  Over on their Facebook page they have a post saying it will air March 12th, 2013 on the Discovery channel.  Not sure if they are going to air all four episodes at once or play one a week.  Either way this is good news.  Now may be they will put out a DVD here.  Then may be they will air or put out his other DVD’s here as well.  Would like to get them if they do.  Have the first three adventure DVD’s he was on and all his books.   Speaking of books the one based of this show is the one I am reading now. Extreme Frontiers: Racing Across Canada from Newfoundland to the Rockies.

Wacom Bamboo Splash

A few blog posts back I was thinking about picking up a Wacom Bamboo Splash.  Thought it was pretty cool.  Well last night while looking more into, I went back to the Amazon.ca.  They still have it on sale but three dollars cheaper than the last time I looked.  Took this as a sign I should buy it.  So that it what I did.   It should be here next week some time.  It is on for a really good price right now on Amazon.ca > here $66.98 (on sale as I am writing this January 29, 2013).  Back on January 23th i was $69.99.  If I were to find it in a store around here it would cost $79.99.   So getting it off Amazon is the better deal.  Got it with taxes and shipped for lest than buying one in store before taxes.  Can’t wait to try this out.  Now I might be able to edit photos better and make some “art”.   Thinking about starting up a new cartoon or revisit old ones I used to do.  Mind you they were pretty terrible.  Since I am not drawing/artist but it was fun.

How To Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting To Kill You Book

Picked up a new book today, How to Tell if Your Cat is Plotting to Kill you.  This is collection of comics from Matthew Inman who runs the website The Oatmeal.com.  Have shared this work before.  He has some pretty funny comics with and interesting point of view.  The booked is based off the comic that shares the same name as the book.  If is and was a big hit on the internet.  If you haven’t seen it check it out > here.  While you are there check out the rest of the website.  There is great stuff there.  As for the book itself.  It is well put together.  The pictures are clear and sharp.  Most important, funny.  It all so comes with a post of the comic that is liked above.  If you are a cat owner or like funny comics check this book out.  Right now Amazon.ca has it on for a good price (January 28, 2013) for $8.50.   I found my copy of Wal-mart.  Well worth the money.

Top Gear Series Nineteen

In case you forgot (if you did, shame on you) Top Gear series nineteen starts tonight, January 27, 2013.  Have been looking forward to some new Top Gear for a very long time.  This show is tied with The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones as my all time favourite shows on TV.  Over on their Top Gear show blog > here they have video of James, Richard and Jeremy talking about what we will see in series 19.  Of course they make fun of James who turned 50 a few weeks back.  These guys all ways crack me up.  The second show in the series (airing February 3) will be one of their famous road trips in super cars.  This time in America.

The Walking Dead Season Three: Second Half Soon

It is all most the end of January.  So that means we are close to the start of the second half of season three of The Walking Dead.  A little over two weeks to go.  Feels like the show have been waiting longer more than two months for some new episodes.    You might know I am a big fan of this show.  This show is tied with two others, Top Gear and Game of Thrones to be my very favourite.  Then are all start up again soon so there will be looks of good things to watch.  When the show ended Daryl and Merle were meeting face to face for the first time in a long time and there is a angry crowed all around them.  Looking forward to see what happens next.

Far Cry 3 Review

Finished off the main storyline in Far Cry 3 last night.  So it is time for a review.  Start off saying this is the funniest game I have played in a very long time.  Have played games that I liked and were some what fun.  But this one sucked me right in.  So far I have put in 42 hours or so in and was not boarded once.   Mind you the the game is not prefect but comes very close.   The problems I do have with it take place in the main story line.  This is an open world game.  But during the story missions its more a linear.  Don’t have a real problem with the linear part.  It is just if you don’t do what the game wants you to do, you end up dying.  So you have to start all over again.   The must frustrating parts are the two “big boss”’ battles.  Think I died about 10 times trying to get the last boss.  It comes down to quick time events.  If you are not fast enough or push the wrong button, you die and start all over.  After the game loads up again.   Don’t let that stop you from getting the game.   For all the complaining there are 10 awesome things for every one bad thing.

This is an open world FPS that got it right.  Exploring the living world with all the animals, taking over the bad guys outposts and all the side mission stuff is so awesome.  Have played for about 42 hours and there is still some stuff I have left to do and want to got back in and do them.  There is still more still haven’t tired multiplayer and co-op yet.   Have been telling very one I talk to, to go and buy this game.

5 out of 5 (GT = Good Time)  This is a must buy.

OUYA

Have not talked about the OUYA since the summer.  If you still haven’t hear about this, I’ll tell you.  It is a new video game console coming out some time in “March?”.   They say it will cost $99.  It is built on Android and all the games will be free to try.  My guess some will be demos and other will have microtransactions.  Back in December they sent out all their developer consoles to the people that are making games.  The reason its very interesting other than the price is the fact that the game will be downloaded.  It cuts out the middle man.  All so the games will be made by all kinds of different people.  Some will be big time developers and other would be indie.   Just wonder how the games will be priced.  Thinking the first bunch of game will be phone ports but I could wrong.  You can still pre-order one over that their website.   Would like to get one but I will wait and see how it turns out.

Wacom Tablets

Have seen the Wacom tablets for sale and people using then in videos.  All ways thought they were pretty darn cool.  If you are wondering what they are.  The simple way of says is, is computerized paper and pen.  Then used with some software you can do some cool stuff.   They are most often used for drawing or computer game stuff.  For a long time they were aimed at professionals because they were high end expensive.  They still are with the Intuos line.   But now they have a new line called Bamboo which is aimed at the very day person.

Start at $80 going up $200 for the Bamboo line is not bad.   Thinking about getting one.  While I am not artist and pretty much suck at draw.  I do like to do it.   When I was a kid used to make my own comic books.  You can do more than just art with them.  They can all so be use to edit photos.  I am looking at the Bamboo Splash.   Over at Future Shop they have it for > here for $79.99.   Then looked on Amazon.ca  and they have it for > here $69.99 (on sale as I am writing this January 23, 2013).  Like I said they are pretty cool.  Do have a gift card for Future Shop.  Not sure what to do.  Will have to think on.  May be look at some more videos and read reviews.

Twine

Yesterday I was reading this article over at Gamespot.com called Power to the People: The Text Adventures of Twine.  It is a very good read.  Talks about how a text adventure can be a game.  What got me the most is that any one can make one for free with the the program called Twine.   It is kind of like and web based choose your own adventure book.  Growing up we had a bunch of these book.   After watching the videos on how to use the program (you can see them here or below) it is a simple but very powerful program.  You are only limited by your imagination.  Going to give this a try.  Looks like it would be fun.   If it turns out ok or not will post it for sure.  If you want to see what a finished product looks like check out this link.  This is the one they use as an example in the GameSpot article.  Below are the videos on how to use the program.
