PlayStation Classic Hands On

The PlayStation Classic I ordered came in the mail the other day.  Even with the Easter holiday it was fast shipping.  Before I tried out the program Auto Bleem for it.  Wanted to give some of the built in games a try.  Have seen and read many things about people complaining about it.  Thinking it can’t be as bad as they say.  After trying a few out I was right.  It isn’t that bad.  Think mostly people got mad when their favorite games were not on the list.  Sure the device could have been a lot better.   All so happy I didn’t play full price.  Will be back with another update when I give the hack a try.

Why My Cat Is More Impressive Than Your Baby Book

There is a new book on it’s way for the guy behind The Oatmeal and Exploding Kittens card game.  Have a few of his other books.  They are very funny.  So will think about getting a copy of the newest, Why My Cat Is More Impressive Than Your Baby.  Amazon.ca has listed to be coming out June 4, 2019 with a $20.00 price point.  Will have to add it to my list.  If ever never see some of this work.  Clink the link above.  He has lots of great jokes on his website.

Lets Talk: Video Game Capture Devices

In this weeks video for the YouTube Channel, I’d Rather Watch Paint Dry.  Talk about the two game footage capture devices I own.  For about two years have been using an AGPtek branded HD Video Capture box to recorded gameplay. Up until this past years (2018) Boxing Day sales. When I got AVerMedai Live Game Portable 2 Plus for a really good price. They both work great. Each one as their own advantages.  The AGPtek can be used with older console using component or composite as well as HDMI.  For the AVerMedia it can capture 60FPS and be used for streaming.  Will keep using both depending on the project.  You can see the video > here or below.  Do you capture gameplay?  If so what do you use.  Let me know in the comments below.

8Bitdo USB Wireless Adapter For PS Classic Edition

Last year made a post about 8Bitdo’s USB Adapter.  It is a little USB device that lets you connect Bluetooth controllers to petty much anything.  For example you could connect at PS4 controller to a Switch.  Talking about his again because I ordered a PlayStation Classic.  The controllers it comes with doesn’t have analog sticks.  A lot of PSOne games didn’t use them but many did.  Plus it will be nice not to have wireless.  Plan to order 8Biitdo’s PS1 Classic version some time soon.  Amazon.ca has them going for $26.59 > here.

The Division 2 Hands On Update

Have been playing the The Division 2 for over a month now.  Am still enjoying it a lot.  Still taking my time.  Playing all the side missions first.  Exploring and doing a bit of gridding to get items.  As of typing this (April 21, 2019) am at level 13 and played about 38 hours.  I don’t play everyday.  Somethings it will be days will go buy before jumping back in.  Every time I do there is something new I find, to use or enemy.  All so getting better at playing as well.  I die far less now.   There is still so much I haven’t seen let.  Don’t like rushing a game.  Think this is why I have so many in my backlog.  The most important thing about the game it is fun.  Recommend it muchly.

Savage Garden – I Want You

Time again for musical throwback Thursday.  The pick this week is I Want You by Savage Garden.  Can remember the song being on the radio all the time in the late 90’s.  They had many hits off the album this song is from, Savage Garden.  They only put out two albums.  Think the song holds up well.  The music video is full of the 90’s you can give it a listen/watch > here or below.

PlayStation Classic Ordered

A few posted back talked about the PlayStation Classic.  That Best Buy was selling them for $30.00 and if they had in stock on their online store would ordered one.  Well they did so I ordered one.  With shipping and tax it cost me about $45.00.  Not bad, since they cost $130.00 when it came out in December (2018).  They were not about big hit.  Five months later they are marked down $100.00.  The many reason for buying one is there is a hack/program out there that lets you runs games off a USB thumb drive.  Which is easy to setup and doesn’t mess with the consoles in any way.  Once you unplug the USB drive it is stock again.  It is called Auto Bleem.   There are other hacks out there but will try this one first.   There is all so a device out there that lets you us a PS4 controller or any other Bluetooth controller.  Plan on getting one of those as well.   At some point there will be a video on the I’d Rather Watch Paint Dry YouTube channel.

My Time At Portia PlayStation 4 Trailer

First heard about the game, My Time At Portia, back in January (2019).   Seen a video of people playing the PC version.  It looks like a nice and relaxing games.  Kind of a mix of Minecraft, Harvest Moon, Dragon Quest builders.  Looked up more info.  The website it is coming to consoles in the Spring.  Well it is Spring now.  Looked it up again and it turns out the game is now out as of April 16, 2019.   However that it’s only on digitals stores for now.  I don’t mind buying digital games if they are cheap.  While it is cheaper than most new games.  $40.00 (Canadian) is too much to spend on the PlayStation Store.  Would like to get a copy on disc.  Looked on Amazon.ca.  They only have UK imports.  Next looked at EB Games.ca.  They have it for pre-order.  Their listing (> here) reads a release date of May 14, 2019 and a price of $40.00.  Not going to pre-order.  Will check back on that date and see if I can order a copy then.  If now will wait to it to go on sale in the PlayStation Store.  You can check out the PS4 trailer > here or below.  The game does look fun.

PlayStation 2 HDMI Cable

If you follow this blog you might know that I have soft modded my PlayStation 2.  Have a set of component cables I bought last year for my PS3.  They all so work on the PS2.  This makes it a bit easier to capture gameplay footage.  An even better way would be HDMI.  The thing is PlayStation 2 are old and HD TVs were not a thing when they came out.  However as seen some people on YouTube talk about how to get HDMI to work the a PS2.  There are a few options out there.  One that may have talked about is from Pound Technology.  They makes the cables to work with older consoles to work with HDTV’s.  They have one for the PS2, Original XBox and Dreamcast.  They call them HD Link.  Thinking about getting the PlayStation 2 one > here.  It pretty much plug and play.  They are asking $30.00 US money.  Not sure how much that will be in Canadian money or even if they ship to Canada.  Will have to look into it more.

Let’s Talk: GUN on the PlayStation 2

In this weeks video for the YouTube Channel, I’d Rather Watch Paint Dry.  One of my very favourite PlayStation 2 games is GUN.  Played all the way through it about six times in a row. The last time I played this was back in 2006.  Must say the controls hold up well.  So does the game play. Think it is well worth you time checking out.  The game came out near the end of the PS2 lifecycle.  Around this time the Xbox 360 was out.  So the game was all so on that.  As well as the first Xbox.  Meaning there are many options to play this game.
