Cape Breton Bikefest 2013

We are getting very close to the start of the 2013 Cape Breton Bikefest.  This year it takes place August 2nd to 5th.  Just took a look at the final schedule and it looks like there will be lots of new things going on this year.  That is a good thing because if they didn’t keep things fresh I could see this awesome event fade way.  Some of the new things are:

Pray paint artist Nathan Salmon will be there show how he does this art.  He will so be selling his art as well.

They are have a booth set up so you can have you and your ride picture taken by professional photographer, Ryan Singlar.  Think this is a cool idea.

There will be a bikini bike wash.  I am pretty sure there will be a line up for that and more people taking pictures

Like other years there will be a show and shine.  This time will be at Rollies Wharf restaurant in North Sydney.

A new event that looks like it will be fun is the Bike Games.  They are saying it will be various motorcycle games.  Not sure what they are but will need to check that out.

Looking forward to this years bikefest.  Last year missed out a day because I ended up with a migraine.  Will be back with some pictures.  My goal is to take a lot.  Since I have a new camera.

Lexar Jumpdrive

Bought myself a new USB flash drive.  It is a 8GB Lexar Jumpdrive S70.  Wanted a new one just to use with my OUYA.  First off it all ways surprizes me how these drives have come down in price.  Back in 2003 or so a 256 MB that’s right MB not GB was close to a $100.  Now you can find 32 GB or so for under $30.  Picked this 8GB for $9.67.  Looked online at the Lexar site they want $15 for the same one and over at Amazon.ca (not them but a seller though them) are selling the it for $31.  I pretty sure soon you will be able to buy a good brand name for just one or two dollars.

OUYA Game

Yes, back again talking about the OUYA.  Now that I have one.  Thinking about trying to make a game for it.  It might be fun to give it a go.  Would like to make a simple one, nothing special.  Not to sure what is all involved to make one.  There will be some programing for sure.  Would need to look up a lot of help for that.  Since I am not a programmer.  But do understand some of it.  Just don’t know to put that all together.  I know the SDK or that they are calling it ODK is free to download and use.  As I am typing this (July 24, 2013) there is a new version out, 1.0.6.  You can download that > here.   They all so have a help section under their Developers Portal > here.   When I have some free time going to look into this idea a lot more.  Will be back with updates.

Yamaha XT225 Wash And Wax

It was nice day out so decided to give my Yamaha XT225 a wash and wax.  Has been far to long since the last time I done this.  The motorcycle was getting pretty dirty.  All so 2013 Cape Breton Bikefest is this up coming weekend, August 2nd to 5th.  Want it to be some what clean just in case some takes a picture, lol.   After that was all finished I forgot I was going to buy myself a better kind of wax this year.  Since the stuff I have is more of a polish.  Must remember to get some for next time.

 

 

Necessary Evil: Super-Villains Of DC Comics

There is a new Blu-ray (may be on DVD as well) coming out that looks very interesting.   It is called Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics.   They are saying it is a full length documentary talking about the villains of the DC Universe.  It is being narrated by Christopher Lee.  It will have all kinds of interviews with people from this industry.  It set to come out October 25, 2013.  I will be buy a copy because it sounds very cool.  The official synopsis is,

“Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics explores the thin line between right and wrong, the nature of evil and how super-villains can reflect society’s dark side as well as our own personal fears. It also attempts to uncover the reasons why comic book fans are so fascinated by the very characters they hope to see defeated. The film focuses on DC Comics’ most terrifying villains, including The Joker, Lex Luthor, Bane, Black Adam, Black Manta, Catwoman, Darkseid, Deathstroke, Doomsday, General Zod, Sinestro, the Suicide Squad, and others.”

Arrow Season Two Trailer

There is a trailer out now for season two of Arrow.  The first season was pretty cool.  Which will be out on DVD/Blu-ray September 17, 2013.  Now back to season two.  If you check out the trailer > here or below.  You will see that it looks just as good and better.  Think that with the big success of the first season, season two will have more money to work with.  When you check out the trailer the first part is all old scenes but the new stuff starts about half way though.  I am guessing that this new season, starting October 9, 2013, will be more a superhero like.  That is my hope.  Would like to see more of Green Arrow and a little less of the love triangle stuff.  Looking forward to the new season.

A Game Of Thrones: The Graphic Novel Volume One Review

Finished reading A Game of Thrones: The Graphic Novel: Volume One so now it’s time for a review.  First off this graphic novel is an adaption of the book A Game of Thrones.   They say that so it will not be confused with the HBO TV show.  Both being based on the same book there will be some things that are the same.  In some of the panels and scenes from the show are so close it looks like they were copied off each other.  While I did like reading this it just seemed to miss out on what makes the book and TV show so awesome.  That being said that is very hard to turn such a big and complicated book into a comic book.  For that they did an awesome job.  Just can’t  see non-TV/book fans buying these graphic novels,  Volume One or Volume Two.  Say this because it doesn’t do a good job bringing you into to the world and introducing the characters.

Enjoyed reading this graphic novel very much.  Have now started reading volume two.  Will being buying a copy of volume three when it comes out in March 2014.  Don’t think non fans of the books or show will becomes fans of the novels.  But fans of one or two of those are going to like this adaption.

Queen – Who Wants To Live Forever

Have been a fan of Queen’s music ever since I was young.  Ever now and again I sit down and listen to all my favourites.  There are so many awesome song.  Here are a few of them, Hammer To Fall, One Vision and A Kind of Magic just to  name a few.  There is one song that all ways that sticks with me.  It all ways picks me up if I am a bad mood.  It is Who Wants to Live Forever.  It is one of those songs that can send a shiver up you spine.  It helps if you put on a good pair headphones.

Whose Line Is It Anyway?

In case you haven’t heard or live under  a rock.  There is good news Whose Line is it Anyway? is all new and back on TV.  This time around it  is airing on The CW network.  It started up again on July 16, 2013.  There is a new host,Aisha Tyler.  The show will have Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, and Wayne Brady each week with a special guest performer.   There will all so be special guest each show.  At first they were saying there would be ten episodes.  Now there seems to be twelve.  Which is a good thing because the show is funny.

Got My OUYA

Got my OUYA in the mail today (Monday July 22, 2013).  Didn’t think it would get here until Wednesday or Friday.  Once I got it out of the box it was very easy to set up.  Just plug the HDMI cable and power cable in.  The HDMI cable is super short.  Think I will have to buy a longer one once I find were I want keep it in TV set up.  Once that’s done you turn it on and pair the control.  All that is every easy.  Have been reading that some people have had trouble with connecting to Wi-Fi.  Had no trouble at all with that.  Once connected to the internet it does a firmware update.  Which doesn’t take along at all.  Next you have to make your user account.  This is the only problem I ran into so far.  Made my account then the internet connection dropped.  But that was an easy fix.  Use deleted the the connection and set that up again.  It worked no problem after that.   Then next thing is to set up your credit card.  I didn’t want to input my info at this point.  Found a work around that lets you use a test numbers.  You can read about that > here.  When I am read to buy some games I will go back and put in my real info.

Have all so heard some bad things about the controller.  I haven’t had any trouble yet.  It works fine.  Will take some getting used to since I use a PS3 controller.  Doesn’t have the same build build quality as a Sony or Microsoft but it is fine.

Plan to try all kinds of games.  Try pairing a PS3 controller.  Then some of the emulators.  I will be back with some updates when I try these and more games out.

Have tired a few games so far.  They are easy to download.  You can download them while still looking the the game lists.  The games I tied so far are,

Shadowgun:  This is a pretty good game.  It controls good.  Easy to play

Critical Missions: SWAT: It is very confusing to set up:  The game is a like a Counter Strike clone

Highway Rally:  This is pretty bad.  I couldn’t it it to work.

King of the Hill:  It is like a Trials HD clone built in flash.  Kind of bad.

Ice Rage: This is fun.  A two on two hockey game.  This is one  I might buy.  Would be fun to pay with friends
