Freelance Whales – Generator First Floor

That day of the week again, musical throwback Thursday.  Am picking a Freelance Whales song this time.  It is Generator 1st Floor.  Which is off their 2009 album Weathervanes.  First heard them many years ago with their Generator Second Floor song.  Which  I really like.  This one is good as well.  Their is just no music video to go along with it.  However their is one of them playing it live at a SXSW event.  Which you can see > here or below.

Freelance Whales – Generator ^ Second Floor

Time again for musical throwback Thursday.  Have picked an old favourite for the song this week.  It is Generator ^Second Floor by Freelance Whales.  They are an indie band from the States.  They have two albums out.  This one is off their first, Weathervanes.  Released in December 2009.  Has been many years since I last listened to this.  To this day still think it sounds awesome.  You can give it a watch/listen > here or below.

Contest Entry

Yesterday made had a post reminding people about the Gowalla.com/Freelance Whales video contest.  The rules > here.   I was saying that my entry was all most done.  Well it is done now.  Finished it off when I got home from work today.  Didn’t take long as I thought to finish.  Added some After Effects to a few clips.  Thought that was going to take me awhile to do.  The tutorial I used was really helpful.  Upload the video to YouTube and Vimeo.  So that is why there are two copies below.

Video Contest Reminder

This is a reminder of the video contest Gowalla.com is putting on with Freelance Whales.  Using their song Location.  The contest is all most over.  I do believe it ends June 12, 2011.  You can read the rules > here.

Need to kick myself, to finish up my entry.  I have the bulk of it edited.  The opening and end are done to were I am happy.  The middle was a bit more tricky.  How ever that is all most done.  Just want to do something different to the footage to spice it up a bit.   The weekend is all most here will have to spend some time and finish it.  Check back because I will be posting it on my blog as well.

Time Laps

Have decide to enter the video contest I talked about yesterday.  In short it is a contest put on Gowalla.com to make a video for the song Location by Freelance Whales.  You can read more about that > here.  Any who.  Was trying to come up with some ideas.  Have a few, then I thought some time laps would be cool to add it.  Never made a time laps video before so gave it a go today.  Used my new GoPro HD Hero 960 since it lets you take pictures very so many seconds.  Got some really nice pictures of the sun with the clouds moving by.  I How it has been done before but I have never tried.  It took me a lot longer than I thought it would to edit.  It did turn out really good thou.  Not going to post it since it is part of the video I am making for the contest.

Video Contest

I have come across a lot of video contest.  Most of them the rules didn’t allow me to enter, the time frame was not good or there was know way I can pull off a good video.  Checking FaceBook updates today there was one from Freelance Whales.  Have posted about this band in the past.  Really like their songs.  Well they and the website Gowalla.com are putting on a video contest.  The rules are pretty simple.  They want to make a video about exploring, discovering and sharing with friends and family.  Using Freelance Whales song Location.   The way I understand it is the contest will run the duration of their North American tour.  April 10 to June 12, 2011.  Once you are done your video you can upload it to YouTube or Vimeo.  Send the link to Gowalla.com or post the link in the comment section of the contest post.  Which is > here.  Check it out.  Plan to make one now.  Just need to think up some ideas.

Freelance Whales – Generator 1st Floor

A few weeks ago I posted the video for Generator 2nd Floor by the band Freelance Whales.  In that post I mentioned another song that I like by them as well, Generator 1st Floor.  While there is not official video for this song.  Found a bunch of live versions of the song.  Did some more digging and found a guess would be the cd version of the song.

Freelance Whales – Generator 2nd Floor

Stumbled upon the song Generator 2nd Floor by Freelance Whales.  This is an awesome song.  Also really like their live version of the song > here and another song of theirs Generator 1st Floor.  These are sit back and grove song.
