Motorcycle Inspection 2022

Now that the weather has gotten much better and have had my 2006 Yamaha XT 225 for the first ride of the year (2022).  Now I need to get it inspected.  This needs to be done every two years.  At one point in time, it was every year.  When I called the shop, was thinking  I would have to wait weeks.  Was happy to find out it wouldn’t be that bad.  They said any time this week is good.  So I book it for the Tuesday (today May 24)  because that is my day off.  However the boss changed the schedule.  So know I need to head there on my break an hope I get back in time.  [Update] got there in back to work pretty quickly.

First Ride Of 2022

The weather is really starting to improve now.  So I was able to get my 2006 Yamaha XT 225 our for the first ride of 2022 (May 10).  Check everything over like I normally do.  The tires all ways loose presser over the winter, but not by much.  Put the battery in, pressed the button.  It fired up right way.  Checked the lights and brakes.  Everything seemed fine, so went for a short ride.  I felt a bit rusty but that will pass.  Now I need to book an appointment for an inspection.

Yamaha XT225 Wash And Wax

It has been far too long since I have given my 2006 Yamaha XT225, a wash and wax.  The weather today (August 2, 2020) was really nice.  Not too hot and very little bugs out.  After giving it a good cleaning and applying the wax.  The sky started to get cloudy.  Wanted to ride around a bit to warm up the chain, to put on new chain lube.  But it stated to rain a little.  So going to have to wait until tomorrow.  This is why I didn’t take any pictures like I do for this type of blog post.

First Ride Of 2021

Am late getting to my first ride of the year (2021) on my 2006 Yamaha XT 225.  Most years have gotten going in May.  Not so much this year for a few reasons.  The weather was part of it.  But the main reason is I need a new helmet.  However everything was closed so I couldn’t get one.  That being said.  It is way to nice out now so couldn’t wait any longer.  Took  a good look over it and checked the tire presser.   The tires themselves are bran new last year.  But the battery in and it fired up on the second push of the button.  Went for a quick ride to see if everything felt right.  Which it did.   Going to start taking it to work.  Things now are starting to open up so hopefully I can get a new helmet this week coming.

 

Motorcycle Sparkplugs

If you have every stopped by this blog.  You might know that I ride a 2006 Yamaha XT225.  Every year I put a new sparkplug in it.  Many years ago but a bunch and gaped them.  That way I would be good to go every spring.  Well I ran out.  So I had t get some more.  Ended up buying four.  Thinking now I should have bought more.  Just might go back and more.  Now that’s now.  It’s time to look at getting a new helmet.

Bugs And Motorcycles

If you ride a motorcycle you will get hit will all kinds of stuff, mostly bugs.  Think I have been hit with them all now after today.  Riding home I get hit right in the throat with this big black bug.  Didn’t know was it was.  Until I got home and looked in a bike mirror to see it was still stuck to me and some what alive.  That did freak me out a little.  But whatever I now have a story to tell with some pictures.  Which you can see below.

 

 

Motorcycle Trouble Another Update

It took a week and more phone calls but I have a new “new” back tier for my 2006 Yamaha XT225 (Yesterday June 25, 2020).  Two weeks ago at a new set put on.  Days later while returning from work the bike could not get up to speed and was super loud.  Turns out back tire was too big.  Causing it to rub again the suspension. Many phones call later they came and got my bike.  Saying the will order a new tire.  A week goes by.  Give them a call to see what going on.  They forgot about it.  First the guy said the tire wasn’t there and he would look into.  He called back said it was.   Then the guy gave me a speech about how there are down people in the shop.  Have been hearing that story every time I need to get something done.  Later that day he called back saying it was on and it how much it would cost.  I reminded him that last week you said it wouldn’t cost any thing.  Gave me another speech about how this tire costs a lot more money.  He wasn’t going to charge me labour and he had to change different departments money.  To makes the long story shorter got him down to $39.00.  I hate dealing with them.  Not going to buy anything from them again.

Motorcycle Trouble Update

A few posts back talked about having some trouble with my new tires on my 2006 Yamaha XT225.  The back one is too big and was rubbing.  Got hold of the shop and told then what had happened.  They agreed to get the motorcycle and put the right sized tire on it. They would call then next morning to setup up a time.   That didn’t happen, so I called them.  They said, “someone would be there with in the hour.’’  Three hours go by and know one showed up.  So called back.  The guy on the phone said, he didn’t know they sent the trailer out of town to do a trade.  He would send someone else  over.  About an hour later that person showed up. As he was loading the bike onto the trailer.  Asked him if I should call again later to see if it would be ready.  He said, “He will get someone to call me.”   The shop closes at 5pm and now it’s 4:30.  Once again I call the shop.  They guy said, “I was just about to call you.”  Tunes out the have to order me a new tire.  This happened on Thursday (June 18, 2020).  This new tire might be in the shop Tuesday or Wednesday.  Once it’s there and put on they will call me.  We shall see.  On the good note they are not going to charge me any more money.

Motorcycle Trouble

It was last Thursday (June 11, 2020) I have new tires put on my 2006 Yamaha XT225.  When I rode it home they seemed very loud.  Was thinking it was just because of the new trends.  Well I took it work today (June 16) since it was nice weather.  A bit cool in the morning.  On they way home I ran into trouble.  Going at slow speeds the bike was fine.  However once I hit the highway it couldn’t get up to speed and got louder.  There is a bit hill to just be for my house.  The bike stared to bog down.  Had to pull over a few times to let people by.  Then I noticed the engine was getting super hot.  When I put into my driveway got off.  Check the back tire and see that it is rubbing on the sides and the suspension.  Know wonder I had trouble getting up to seed the engine was over heating.  Just hope I didn’t mess it up.  Need to give the shop a call.  They better fix it for free since it was their mistake.  But my guess they will make be up a new tire and have it installed.

Motorcycle Tires

Had new tires put on my 2006 Yamaha XT225 yesterday (June 11, 2020).  Last fall knew I had to get a back tire for sure.  It was worn pretty bad.  But over the winter the front started to crack.  With everything going on in.  I had to order the tires then make an appointment to get them on.  That took about two weeks. The old tiers were nine and ten years old so they serviced me well.  As for the new ones they are nice.  However they are a lot louder on the road. The grips are a lot bigger.  It all so makes it hard to get up to higher speeds I found out today.
