In this weeks video for the YouTube Channel, I’d Rather Watch Paint Dry, talking about  IDW’s re-lanced the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with a new comic book series.   In 2013 discovered that IDW had re-lanced the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with a new comic book. Had bought a bunch of the main trade paperbacks before learning about the micro-series books. Since I was all ready collecting the main books. So why not get theses ones as well. My plan is it read them and talk about them for the channel. You can see the video > here or below.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past Volume 3 Review

Posted in Review's with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 17, 2013 by getbent57

tmnt_vol3_ShadowsOfThePast.jpgTime to review volume three in the Ninja Turtles reboot comic series.  This one is called, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past Volume 3.  This story picks right up were volume two leaves off.  Really enjoying this fresh new take on the Ninja Turtles origin.  It is some much better than the old cartoon show and live action movie take on the origin.  It makes so much better scents.  Still silly but way cooler.  The volume has us meeting the Shredder and Karai.  In this world she is his granddaughter.  Of course there is the Foot Clan.  The story revolves around Splinter being taken captive and the Turtles set out to get him back.  While this is taking place we get to me the purple dragons for the first time.

Over all this is another awesome volume.  The art work is amazing.  It is so nice any one of the panels could be hanging on wall some were.  The story picks right up after volume 2 (which was a cliff-hanger) and moves at good place meeting new characters.  It has the first show down with the Shredder.  You can guess how it ends but still very fun read.  Volume four should star with a new story.  Highly recommend checking these volumes out.

tmnt_vol3_ShadowsOfThePastIt has taken over two weeks but my copy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past Volume 3 came in the mail today (June 6, 2013).  Now my collection of all five volumes is complete.  If you have read my past posts talking about these trade paperbacks.  You know I really like them.  So I am looking forward to reading the complete story.  Well I am guess there will be more volumes in the future.  Will have to keep my eye out.  After read all these volumes next on my list is to get the two micro series volumes.  So far there is volume 1 and volume 2.   The micro series are a collection of four standalone stories.  Will be back with a review of this volume.  Pretty sure you can guess what I will give it.  Have to say if you are any kind of Ninja Turtles fan these are well worth checking out.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Enemies Old, Enemies New Volume 2 Review

TMNT-Vol2-EnemiesOldEnemisesNewA few weeks back talked about picking up a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles graphic novel.  Really liked it so I ordered the other four volumes.  Finished reading volume 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Enemies Old, Enemies.  If you haven’t read the review of volume one I recap a bit.  In these new graphic novels it is like a reboot of the Ninja Turtles story line.  All the characters are there you know but the origin story is different.  It makes it way better.  The story line is more adult.   There is some comedy but it more serious.  This novel has the introduction General Krang.  He is much better that in the old cartoons.  The story all so has the turtles getting own coloured masks.  We all so get to see Baxter Stockman’s Mousers (Minefield Ordnance Unarming System Enhanced Robots).  Stockman gives them to the bad guy from the first Volume, Old Hob to track down Splinter.  Because Stockman needs a blood sample to make more ooze for General Krang.  Who in turns wants super soldiers to fight in his war back on this home plant.

This picks right up after volume one and it is even better than the first.  Really liking this new take on the Ninja Turtles.  The only thing is it ends in a cliff hanger.  Which is fine I guess but I am still waiting for volume 3, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past to come in the mail.  All ready have volumes 4 and 5.  Just need number three to fill in the gap.  Over all I am very impressed this these graphic novels.  Highly recommended them.  If you grew up watching the old cartoons you will like these.  The story lines is different but way better.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Volumes

TMNT_Vol1_ChangeisConstant.jpgA few posts back did a review of the reboot comic of the Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Change is Constant Volume 1.  Really enjoyed so last night ordered the other four volumes.  Bought them though Amazon.ca.  They had three of the four in stock.  They didn’t have Volume 3: Shadows of the Past in stock.  One thing Amazon does let other sellers, sell throw their site.  They list other sellers selling this book new and used.  So that is were I order volume 3.  It ended up costing me more because the book cost more at the seller plus there was shipping and handling fee.  If you buy so much though Amazon they offer free shipping.  So I got three of the books bought and shipped for about the same price as just one though the other seller.  They should be here some time next week.  Would have waited for Amazon to get this one back in stock if it was the last one in the volume but its number three.  Would be missing out on the story line if I had waited.

The five volumes are:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Change is Constant Volume 1

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Enemies Old, Enemies New Volume 2

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past Volume 3

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Sins of the Fathers Volume 4

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Krang War Volume 5

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Volume 1: Change is Constant Review

TMNT_Vol1_ChangeisConstantLast week took a road trip to Halifax and stopped at Strange Adventures.  When I was there picked up a copy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Change is Constant Volume 1.  Had know idea what the story was about just saw that it was volume one with TMNT in it.  The story is awesome.  It is a new take on origin story of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  It has all the characters you know but there are some differences.  Splinter and the turtles are used in law run by Baxter Stockman.  April O’Neil is a newly hired inter at the law.  Things happen (don’t want to spoil any thing) and the turtles/Splinter come into contact with the ooze.  Also Casey Jones is younger and has a different back ground.  Really enjoyed this new take on the story.  It is more of an adult take on the story as well.  The art is very nice too look at as well.  Highly recommend checking this out.  Even if you are not into comics but remember the Ninja Turtles from you childhood.

This a an excellent re-boot of the Ninja Turtles origin.  After reading it and loved it want to get the rest of them.  Did some research and turns out there (so far) five volumes.  Now I have to get them all.  Since I will not be heading back to Halifax any time soon will have to order theses off of Amazon.ca.
