Posted in Just something to say with tags , , , , , , , , , on September 1, 2020 by getbent57

Doomsday_Clock_The_Complete_CollectionDC Comics had a cross over event with the classic Watchmen and the DC universe, called Doomsday Clock.  This series started in 2017 and ended in 2019.  The storyline got it’s start in The Button a Batman and Flash book.  I have read and an like it a lot.  Since then have thought about getting the Doomsday Clock trade paperbacks.  In which there are two volumes.  Now I think I will wait.  Since I just found out they are putting out a complete collection.  Called of all things, Doomsday Clock: The Complete Collection.  Over at > here they have it listed coming out October 13 ,2020.  Think I will be adding this to my list.

In this weeks video for the YouTube Channel, I’d Rather Watch Paint Dry, have a quick review.  First seen The Button back in 2017 in a hardcover. They are nice but the price is too high for me. This is why I like to collect trades in paperback form. A few weeks back while in a book store seen they had copies in paperback so bought a copy. Here is my quick review on it.  Which you can see  > here or below.

Watchmen Paperback

Posted in Just something to say with tags , , , , , , , , , , on October 30, 2019 by getbent57

Watchmen_PaperbackWith the new HBO Watchman TV show started (October 20, 2019) decided to re-read the Watchman trade paperback.  Bought this in 2008 before the movie came out in 2009.  Like what I read and then the movie was out.  Enjoyed that even more.  Still think it is the best comic book movie every made.  Years later they put out Before Watchmen comics.  Never read them but very much want to.  Now DC Comics has a cross over event the this classic with the DC universe, called Doomsday Clock.  Plan to get my hands on that as well.  If you never read his story you should.  There are a bunch of different version out there but the story is still the same.

Before Watchmen Omnibus

Posted in Just something to say with tags , , , , , , , , , , on February 2, 2019 by getbent57

Before_Watchmen_OmnibusMay years about heard about a spin off comics books for Watchmen.  Which on of the most famous graphic novels.  They made an awesome movie based off it back in 2009.  This happens to be one of my all time favourite movies.  These spins offs are prequels under the name Before Watchmen.  There are nine books with one to six issues.  Have known about the trade paperbacks for while.  All most bought a few.  It was just I wanted to them all.  It was hard to track all them down.  Now I have read about the Before Watchmen Omnibus.  This collects all the books and turning them into on giant one. has it.  The thing is they are asking $100.00.  Am sure if you add up the price of all the trades it would equal out to be the same.  Will keep on eye on it.  There might be a price drop at some point.

Watchmen Director’s Cut

Posted in Just something to say with tags , , , , , on April 14, 2013 by getbent57

watchmendvd.jpgWanted to watch a movie today.  Looking though my collection decided to re-watch Watchmen the Director’s Cut.  Have not seen this movie in a few years.  It came out in 2009.  Remember before the movie came out I went out and bought the graphic novel (which shares the name as the movie).  At first I was a bit put off by the art work.  That was because I was used to more modern looking art.  The graphic novel came out back in 1987.  Got over that pretty quick because I have never read anything like it before.  Enjoyed it, so I was looking forward to the movie.  Enjoyed that even more.  While there are some changes between the two.  Like more how the movie does the big plot twist at the end.

Forgot how long the director’s cut was.  It is three hours long.  This is still on my list of all time favourite movies.  Own the DVD copy.  Thinking about buying a Blu-ray copy.  It looks great on DVD.  But I know it will looks awesome on Blu-ray.  Being four years old know pretty sure I can find it cheap some were.  Any who I you never seen movie you are missing out.

Watchmen DVD

watchmendvd_thumb.jpgI picked up the Watchmen DVD today (July 21, 2009).  I got the director’s cut 2 disc digital copy special edition.  The extra footage in the director’s cut is great.  The footage is though out the hole movie.  It fills in some more blacks.  I have not watched the second disc.  That has all the extras on it.  I said it before and I say it again this is one of the best movies of all time, a must watch.

watchmen dvd So can’t wait to picked up the Watchmen DVD.  It will be out on July 21, 2009.  This is one of my all time favourite movies.  I plan to pick up the director’s cut version. It will add about 24 more minutes making it around 186 minutes long.  So that is round 3 hours.  I thought about buying the Blu-ray but changed my mind since my PS3 is not working right.  Once I get that fixed might buy the Blu-ray as well.  You can read my review of the movie when it was out in theatres here.

Tales Of The Black Freighter Review

Tales of the Black Freighter Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter & Under the Hood is a new DVD that came out (March 24, 2009).  The Black Freighter and Under the Hood are a comic book and a book with in the Watchmen graphic novel.  The Black Freight story on the DVD is animated pretty much word for word from the graphic novel.  The best thing is Under the Hood.  It is live action done TV news magazine style in the 1985 and 1975.  It is pretty cool.  Some of the actors from the Watchmen movie play there roles in this.  If you are a Watchmen fan you need to check this out.

Must watch for the Watchmen fans out there.

Watchmen Motion Comic Review

Posted in Review's with tags , , , , on March 16, 2009 by getbent57

watchmenmotioncomic.jpgFinely finished watching Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic.  All 12 chapters of the graphic novel are “limited”  animated with voice over.  It is a cool idea.  If you don’t want to read the novel this is a good alternative.  How ever the novel is better.  Not to sure if non-fans will check his out since the movie just came out.

This is a must have for all the Watchmen fans out there.  If you are not sure what the Watchmen is all about this is a good start if you don’t want to read the graphic novel.
