PlayStation 5 Controller Stand Remix Again

It was back on February 5, 2023 that I uploaded my remix of a PS5 controller stand over at Printables.com.  Less than a month later it has been downloaded over 60 times.   Think that is super cool people like it enough to download and many be print out.  This got me thinking many be I should try my hand at making my own files or remix some more.  You can the remix I did > here.

PlayStation 5 Controller Stand Remix

A few posts back talked about 3D printing a  controller stand for my PS5.  Found this > here over at Printables.com.  All so in that post talked about how I added the PlayStation logo to the front of it.  Well decided to upload that STL file to Printables.  A lot of the files on there let you remix them and upload. As long as you say who the original designer is.  That’s very simple to do.  You can give my remix a download > here.

PlayStation 5 Controller Stand

Now that I own a PlayStation 5 wanted to 3D print a controller stand.   Have one for my PS4 controller.  Looked over on Printables.com and seen this one > here.  It’s a simple print that doesn’t need supports.  However the front is a bit plain with nothing on it.  Decided to see if I could get the PlayStation logo on there.  Google the logo and did a quick photo edit.  Took that picture and turned that into a SVG file.  Download that STL file and then imported them both in Tinkercad.  Messed around with that for a bit and came up with this, (Picture below).  Am very happy with how this turned out.

Vectr.com

Many months back briefly talked about Vectr.com.  This is a free website that create vector graphics.  Vectors are pretty cool since the can be scaled to any side.  So they are great to lets say T-shirt designs.  I am think it would all so be great for 3D models.  Something like a simple logo.  Then export it as an .svg flie.  Which can be easily imported into Tinkercad.  Going to give this a try and see what I come up with.

Photogrammetry And Video Games

A few posts back talked about photogrammetry to work with the video game Diablo 3 Eternal Collection and it didn’t work out so good.  Last year some time tired this some thing with my ship from No Man’s Sky and that didn’t work as well.  That being said gave the ship another try and had some better results.  The program managed to scan the ship.  There are some problems with a bunch of holes in the ship.  So looking into seeing if I can fix those.  If I can do that.  Than it could be turned into a 3D printable model.  The picture below is from the 3D scan and you can see the holes in the wing.

Photogrammetry

A few posts back talked about trying to get photogrammetry to work with the video game Diablo 3 Eternal Collection.  When you pause the game you seen what your character looks like and it can be spun around.  Was think that might be useful in the 3D program.  Well I gave it many tries and it didn’t work.  Am thinking because the program has no reference  to where the character is to the background.  Oh well, it was worth a try.  Am thinking I will try again with a real world object.  Will be back with another update.

Photogrammetry Another Try

Am going to give photogrammetry another go.  Gave it a try last year with some mixed results.  Then kind of stopped working on those projects.  Think I need to scale back a bit.  A while back while playing Diablo 3 Eternal Collection when you in the menu screen you can see your character.  You can spin it around in 360 view.  So you can see what the character looks like when you chance the clothes and weapons.  Thinking this will be much easier to get photos from a video.  Can edit the video to mostly be black and export the pictures.  Going to give this a try soon.  Will be back with an update.

MatterControl – 3D Printing Software

Has been a long while since I have done anything with my 3D printer or try to design something to print.  Since it’s a new year decided to try to get back into it.  Have messed around a bit with Tinkercad.   It is a great web based program for 3D modeling.   Have discovered a similar but more powerful program called MatterControl.  Have heard of it awhile back but only thought it was only for sliceing models.  Turns out it can do a lot more than that. You can design and edit with it as well.  The best part is it free..  So going to give it a try.  My main goal is to make some RGB lit letters to be used in the background for I’d Rather Watch Paint Dry YouTube channel.

3D Printed Coin

In this weeks video for the YouTube Channel, I’d Rather Watch Paint Dry.  A little while back made a video with the goal to design a coin to be used as a promo item for this YouTube channel. I made the coin in Tinkercad. It didn’t turn out so good. So went back to the drawing board and tried again. Had much better results.  You can see for yourself > here or below.

ELEGOO Mini Air Purifier

If you have stopped by this blog with the last year you might now that I have a Elegoo Mars 3D printer.  This uses resin.  Which has a strong smell to it.  Am sure it can’t be really good for you to breath in.  A little while back seen a device that they put out called the Elegoo Mini Air Purifier.  This are two little battery power carbon filters.  They sit next to the resin vat and you put the cover over them.  At that time didn’t buy it because I wanted to look up more about them.  Didn’t find much.  When back to buy then any way and they were out of stock.  Fast forward to early September (2020) and seen that Amazon.ca had then back in stock > here so order one.  (They are out of stock again as I am typing this September 13, 2020).  Have yet to try them out.  Do hope they work good.  If they do will be able to print more in the winter with out having to open up windows.
