The_Cottars_Made_in_Cape_BretonTime again for musical throwback Thursday.  Have picked local talent for this weeks song.  Which is The Briar and The Rose by The Cottars.  While looking up info on this.  Turns out this is a Tom Waits song.  I much like The Cottars version better.  Think this was the first single of their first album.  Released in 2002 called Made in Cape Breton.  You can hear it for yourself > here or below.

Rawlins_Cross_Reel_n_RollIt is musical throwback Thursday.  The song this week is Reel ‘n’ Roll by Rawlins Cross.   Which is off their 1993 album that shares the same name as the song.  They are kind of a big deal where I live.  They are still on the go today.  Last week they were on TV talking about their newest album out called Rock Steady.  Their music is nothing like anything out here.  The mix together so many different styles together that just works.  You can see/hear Reel ‘n’ Roll > here or below.

Meat_Loaf_Bat_out_of_Hell_IIOnce again musical throwback Thursday.  The song this week is one of Meat Loaf’s most famous song, I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That).  I can remember when this came out.  It was on the radio all the time.  This is one of those power ballads that is supper long.  Have read that the original version was twelve minutes long.  Which got cut down but is it is still long for most songs.  This is off this 1993 album Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell.  You can see/hear the music video > here or below.

Riverdance_Music_from_the_ShowThat day of the week again, musical throwback Thursday.  Something every different this week.  The song is Reel Around the Sun from Riverdance.  In the late 90’s early 2000’s this dance number shows set to traditional Irish music were very where.  I remember turning on CBC one night and Riverdance was on.  I could care less about the dancing.  It was the music that kept me watching.  This is the the opening song of the show.  There are a bunch of videos on YouTube.  Have picked the first one one the list.  They are all pretty much the same just with different people.  You can see it for yourself > here or below.

Loreena_McKennitt_The_Mummers_DanceOnce again it is musical throwback Thursday.  This weeks pick is The Mummers’ Dance by Loreena McKennitt.  Can remember this song being a bit hit in the late 90’s.  It is so different than other songs out at the time.  A very mellow Celtic song sound with many different instruments used.  This is off her 1997 album called The Book of Secrets.  I think the song holds up really well.  You can give it a watch/listen > here or below.
