The Crew 2 – Jumping Back In

A few nights ago was in the mood to play a racing game.  So jumped back into The Crew 2.   It had been a very long time since I last played it.  The game has been out for years now and they are still adding new things.  Which is nice.  As of typing this (September 30, 2022) they is a bunch of races which turns the tracks it to ice covered ones.  This makes the cars handle much different.  Found that kind of fun.  The only thing I don’t like about the game is the menus.  There is too much going on.  Think I am going to keep playing some more.

The Crew 2 Season 1 Episode 1: The Chase

It was some time in the summer (2020) that I gave The Crew 2 a play.  Since then haven’t gotten around to playing more.  Well until the a few days ago.  On November 25th Ubisoft put out a new update called Season 1 Episode 1: The Chase.  This add lots of stuff but the main draw in the new gameplay mode, The Chase.  It very much like that Takedown mode in the Burnout games.  You have a set time and a set number of cars to crash into to stop.  Being so long since I last played it took me three tires to on the first mission.  Having lots of fun with this game.  Think  I will keep playing until Cyberpunk is out.

The Crew 2

Decided to give another game I had sitting on my self unopened, The Crew 2.  Think I bought this around a Black Friday or a Boxing day sale, can’t remember.  Back in June (2018) gave the open beta a try and liked what I had played.  Just wasn’t sure at that time if I wanted to play for price.  Kind of glad I wanted to.  Since I got it cheaper but all so they have add a lot to the game as well as fixes.  Like most Ubisoft games there are RPG/loot elements.  This seems to work well with this game.  Played about two hours or so. Managed to upgrade and buy a few thing as well as customs paint jobs.  Even tried to online races.  Managed to get second place in both.  Not bad since every one else had super high level and I am level two.  Going to keep playing.  Very fun game.

More Games

Just before Christmas while shopping took a look at the cheap game section and seen two games on my want list. The Crew 2 and Trials Rising.  Have tired both back when they were in beta.  Did like both games but wasn’t going to pay full price for them.  So when I seem them so cheap had to get them. The Crew 2 is just the regular version.  However was surprised to see that Trails was the Gold Edition.  It is the game plus the Expansion Pass.  A great deal for $30.00 each.

The Crew 2 Free Weekend

Back in the summer of 2018 tired the open beta for The Crew 2.  Liked what I had played but was on the fence about buying it at full price.  Last week they had it on Sale in the PlayStation Store.  All most bought it.   If you missed out on the beta last year and the sale you have a have a change to try the game out.  Ubisoft and PlayStation are have a free weekend to.  From December 5 to 8, 2019 you can play the full game.  Then if you like enough the Deluxe Edition is on sale in the store until the 12th.  Do believe you can start downloading it now.  You can read the PlayStation blog post about this > here.

The Crew 2 Open Beta Hands On

Now that the open beta for The Crew 2 is now live.  Running June 21 to 25 (2018) I gave it a try.  The beta was pre-loadable which I did about a week before.  So got to jump right in.  It starts off with some very badly acted cut scene.  The open tutorial/race has you starting off in a car then switches to a boat and then a plane.  Once that is done the map opens up and they give you a bunch of events and stuff to do.

The first thing I wanted to do was the off road stuff.  Was hoping to try some motorcycles out.  But at the start they are locked.  However you can test drive some of them.  Think they give you about a minute to play around in the test drive mode.  Only played about an hour so far.  Liked what I seen so far.  Will keep playing.  Still on the fence about buying this or not.

[Update] Before the beta ended put about three hours into it.  Didn’t get to try every thing out.  What I did play liked.  There is a lot too go.  Many reason to keep playing.  There is a staggering amount of vehicles to buy, customize and upgraded.  Still on the fence about buying.  Might wait for a price drop.

The Crew 2 Open Beta

Didn’t get picked to be in the closed beta for The Crew 2.  Which was too big of a deal because I knew at some point before the game will be out there would be an open beta.  Well at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference they said the open beta will run from  June 21 to 25 (2018) on all the platforms it is coming to.  The best part it can be preload now.  So you don’t have to waste time waiting for it to download on the 21th.  They has all so add four disciplines, touring car, drift, motocross and jetsprint what were not in the close beta.  Looking forward to trying this out.  If I like just might by the full game.

The Crew 2 Closed Beta

There will be a closed beta for The Crew 2 starting soon.  It will run from May 31 to June 3 (2018).  There is still time to sign up.  Which you can do > here.  I signed up for this months ago.  They are pushing this beta pretty hard because the game is set to be out June 29, 2018.  From their website, “Closed beta players will have access to all the content available within the first level of the progression system, including four different race types: Street Race, Rally Raid, Powerboat, and Aerobatics. Not only will the entire map be open for players to explore, but they’ll also have access to the full line-up of vehicles available in The Crew 2 to unlock. Plus, all closed beta players will be able to participate in an exclusive mission, the Motor Trend Classic Challenge, a street race through New York City.”

I got to try the first game in a closed beta.  Was every underwhelmed with that one.  So never bothered getting a copy.  This game however looks a thousand times better and more fun.  I hope I get picked to try the beta.  Watched a bunch of gameplay video.  The motorcycles look very fun to use.  If I do get to try it, will be back with another post.
