Blood Omen: Legacy Of Kain

Blood_Omen_Legacy_Of_KainBack in the day my brother used to like to rent the game, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, for the PlayStation.  Never played it but would watch him play for a bit.  Never understood the game.  Just know it was about vampires and the game had long load time every time you entered or left a building.  Well a few days ago.  Came “across” a copy and decided to give it a try.  It plays like a action RPG.  Haven’t got the full handle on the controls yet.  So used to playing modern games.  Going to try and play some more to see if I can get into it.

Road Rash Video Games

Road_Rash_3Have been trying out a bunch of different game with RetroPie running on a  Raspberry Pi 3 kit.  Was trying to think of old Sega Genesis game my brother and I used to rent back in the day.  Then it hit me, Road Rash.   The one I remember most is Road Rash 3: Tour De Force.  Decided to play the first two before playing this one.  They all pretty much the same at the core.  You race a motorcycles dodging obstacles and other racers.  While trying to knock them off their motorcycles.  The first game was out in 1991 then in 92 the second one was out.  You can see a big jump in the graphics.  In 1995 the third game was out.  This third one is much more fun than the other two.  The motorcycles control better.  Another good feature it has, you can keep you weapons between races.

TOCA Championship Racing

TOCA_Championship_RacingA few post back talked about how I ordered a The Raspberry Pi 3 and going to use it run RetroPie.  Which is a game emulator.  Was trying to think up so old games I all ways wanted to try.  Then TOCA Championship Racing came to mind.  For many years I would collect the Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine.  This magazine run for about ten years.  Just about right up the the end it would come with a demo disc.  During the PlayStation (one) era this disc had lots of great stuff.  One that I can still remember is the TOCA demo.  Mostly because we all played it for hours.  Think it had only one track but it was fun because you can totally trash the car.  When you crashed part or parts of the car would go flying off.  So we used to just drive the track backwards to see how much chaos we could cause.

PlayStation Games

MedalOfHonorThe other day decided to play some of my old PlaySation One games.  The first one I played was Final Doom.  This game as released in 1996.  This was before the DualShock controller was released so there was no analog control.  So spent most of the time fighting with the controls.  Used to be able to play this game with no problem.  I guess after years of using dual analog sticks to play FPS you can never go back.  Next game I played was Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown.  This one was released in 1997.  Bought this one bran new after renting in one time.  Used to play this one all the time.  Yet again fought with the controls. Again it was before analog sticks.  So gave up playing that and put in the very first Grand Theft Auto.  Another game I bought after renting.  This game was pretty cool back then.  The only problem it would give me headaches.  This was because the game has a top down look.  When you drive faster the game would zoom out and back in as you crashed (which happened a lot) or slowed down.   Well only played for a few minutes and had to stop.  Was making my head feel funny.  Decided to play one more game.  Think it has to be my all time favourite PlayStation one game, Medal of Honor.  This one did have dual analog control since it was released in 1999.  For being all most 15 years old they game you a lot of different control options.  So picked the one that most modern games have.  Used to play the hell out of this game back in the day.  Was so good at this game I could play the first level with out ever getting hit at all.  Played the first two levels.  While it is pretty tame and easy compared to modern games.  It was still fun.  Think I will go back and see if I can finish the game.
