DualShock 4 Controller

For a few years now have been hoping PlayStation DualShock 4 controllers would go on sale during black Friday.  It didn’t happen again this year.  Let the PS5 ones did.  As I am typing this (November 25, 2022) they coast out $75.00.  To me that is too much.  The Wave Blue one I bought back in 2015 sticks have worn a lot.  So many be they will go on sale during the Boxing week sales.  Fingers crossed.

DualShock 4 Controller

I do hope at this years Black Friday sales the PS4 DualShock 4 controllers go on sale.  The Wave Blue one I bought back in 2015 is starting to ware a in spots.  Since I plan on keeping my PS4 forever would like a new controller.  Have held one of the newer versions of these.  They seem lighter and made a bit differently.  But yet the same.  All so thinking may be I should buy a PS4 Slim or Pro to keep in the box just in case mine dies.  Would wait for a big price drop first on that.  Will keep my eyes on the flyers.

PlayStation DualShock 4 Wave Blue

The whole Black Friday deals is still new here in Canada.  A lot of places were having all weekends sales.  The only thing that caught my eye was that DualShock 4 controllers were on sale.  Have been eyeballing the Wave Blue one for a long time now.  Saying to myself wait until they go on sale.  The going price here for a new one is $75.00 plus tax.  Which is way to much.  They were on sale for $49.99 pretty much every were.  Did head over to Walmart on Friday after work.  There was about twenty people in line all looking for help with something.  So I left.  Went back Saturday and only had one person in front of me.  All so lucked out again because they only had one Wave Blue left.  The only thing different than the regular black controller is the top plastic part is blue.  I nice looking blue so I had to have it.

PlayStation 4 Firmware 2.00

Today (October 28, 2014) this is a new firmware update for the PlayStation 4.  This 2.00 update called Masamune brings all kinds of new features to the PS4.  You will now be able to play MP3 from a USB drive without the music stopping.  So you can play your music over the game audio or what ever you are doing.  We be able to upload video straight to YouTube now. There will all so be new themes.  So you can change how the “desktop” looks.  How ever the coolest feature is called Share Play.  A simple explanation.  You are playing a game and want your friend to see what you are doing.  Your press the share button on the controller, go though the menus and you friend can see what you see on your TV.  Then at any point you can pass the virtual controller.  So now your friend is playing your game on their TV.  Another option is.  Lets say you are playing a sports game which is two player.  You can set it up so that your friend is playing the game you own on your TV while the are streaming it to theirs.  All most like playing like there are in the room with you.  All this sounds pretty cool.  But my guess it is not going to work right out of the gate.  Will give it a try but now it will be a work in progress.  There is a video explaining ever thing > here or below.  All so GameSpot has a nice article breaking down point by point what this new update will do.  Which you can read > here.

Watch Dogs Review

Have finished the main missions and a lot of the side stuff in Watch Dogs.  About 77% done so think it is time for a review.  Have enjoyed playing this game.  There is lots to look and do.  It was fun to unlock and upgrade all the skills.  If fact I reached the max level and all skill unlocked about two missions into act two.  There are five acts in all but would say there are truly only four because the last one on contains one missions.  There are a few things that were great an others that were just ok.  Parts of the story were inconsistent.  Same with the way the characters interact with each other is a bit inconsistent as well. Some of the hacking mini games can be frustrating.  But don’t let those small things take way from this must play games.  Then there is the online play.  Not really into that.  But some times you have to play a bit of it.  Even now again someone will hack into your game.  Were you have to find and kill them before the get all the way in.  Some times you can stop this from even happing but some times it happens any way.  Think it has happened to me about six times and was only able to get the other person three times.

This is another awesome open world game with RPG elements.  The games is beautiful to look at and run around in.   There is lots to do and stuff to unlock.  It is well worth the money because there is many, many hours of gameplay.

Watch Dogs 1.03 Patch

There is a new patch out on all systems for Watch Dogs.  This patch fixes all kinds of different things which you can read > here.  There is fixes for multiplayer which are nice but not really into the multiplayer.  Played a few rounds of the racing but that was a bit glitchey.  The big thing for me is replay options.  Just like they did in Far Cry 3.  Once you finish the main storyline and provided you did all the Gang Hideouts and Convoy Missions.  You will be able to reset these so you can play them again.  All so like in Far Cry 3 the hideouts are super fun to take out.  I am know were near finished this game.  On mission three in act 2.  How ever I am maxed out at level 50 and have all but one skill option left to get.  Having a blast playing this game.  If you are still on the fence.  This game is well worth your money.

Watch Dogs

Have owned my PlayStation 4 and a copy of Watch Dogs for little over a month now.  Not sure why any hours I have played.  Wish there was stats screen or something to show you like most other games have.  Going to guess around 20 to 30 hours (may be more).  Have enjoyed every minute of it.  It is so good.  What makes it awesome is there is so much to look at and do.  Like most games now a days there is some rpg elements.  Have reached level 27 out of 50 and am still on the first Act of the game.  Only have a small few problems.  Some of the hacking (were you have to move little switches with a countdown clock) can be annoying.  It takes lots of re-tries to get some of them and gave up on others.  The other small problem is that I fail each mission/side mission at lest once, sometimes more. For a new IP this game is pretty sweet.  Am sure they will be a second one.  Which should be bigger and better.  If you are holding out on getting Watch Dogs, don’t.  This is a must own.

DualShock 4

I am enjoying my time with the Playstation 4.  All so really liking the DualShock 4.  It is much better than the DualShock 3 which was pretty good as well.  With every generation they improve a lot.  It is much wider the stick and triggers feel a lot better.  The click track pad in the middle of the controller works really well.  At first I wasn’t sure how it would work out.  Over all it fit perfectly in my hands.  The only downside is the battery doesn’t seem to last that long.  Not sure how many hours I used it but about five days with an hour of so each day.  The message comes up on the screen saying the battery is running low.  The Dual 3 has a much better battery life.  Going to try and keep track on how long it last for next time.

Watch Dogs

The first game I picked up for my new PlayStation 4 is Watch Dogs.  Have been waiting a long time to try this game out.  Heard and read that is its pretty cool.  Mind you I didn’t read or watch a lot of things about this game because didn’t what see any spoilers.  Like the PS3 the PS4 has to install so much information on the hard drive.  When I looked at the back of the box it said, “21 GB minimum”.    That seems like a lot.  The PS4 does come with a 500 GB hard drive but only can use 400 of that.

Have only played the first few main missions so far.  Keep getting distracted by all the extra things you can go.  Like a lot of Ubisoft open world games there is all kinds of things to look at and side missions to do.  All so like a lot of new games there is an upgrading system as well.  You can upgrade you hacking, driving, shooting and something else stats.  Doing side missions all so help you get the upgrades.  The main hook of the game is hacking into different systems to help you get around the city.  Simple things like changing the traffic lights to getting someone’s ATM info or may be blowing up a steam pipe underground.  Found out that last one the hard way.  Was trying to hacking to someone’s phone as the walked by but I missed and hacked into the steam pipe.  Which sent me flying and killed me.  Was pretty fun.  Enjoying the game a lot so far.  Even after only playing a little bit, have to say it is a must buy.

PlayStation 4

As a birthday gift to myself I bought a PlayStation 4.   The game I bought with it is Watch Dogs.   Picked up Watch Dogs first on my lunch break from work. Next was to find one.  Have been looking a FutureShop’s website for the past five days or so to see if they had any in stock.  Every time I looked it said there was none in the store near me.  Check one more time on my birthday and they had them in stock.  Want to buy it a FutureShop because I had some gift cards I can use.

Once I had it out of the box and all hocked up.  The set up was a breeze.  First there was a small update file that download then installed.  All ready have a PSN account so all I had to do was sign in with at.  The menu screens are different but all most the same is some ways as they are on the PS3.  It is very easy to navigate around. Checked out the PSN store next.  Looks just the PS3 version but with less stuff.  Downloaded TowerFall Ascension.  This is one of the free games you can get in July if you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber.  The first version of TowerFall was an exclusive to the Ouya.   This new version is not only on the PS4 but computers as well.  You can play the game by yourself but its best played local multiplayer.

The best thing is the new controller, DualShock 4.  Have talked about it before when I got to check out a friends PS4.  Now that I had some time to use my own.  It is the best controller I have ever used.  Will be back to talk about Watch Dogs in another post.
