Elegoo Neptune 2 – No Man’s Sky Ship

Yep, talking about the Elegoo Neptune 2 FDM 3D Printer again.  Found some very cool to print over at Thingiverse.  It is a ship model from the game No Man’s Sky.  Which you can check out > here.   Am a big fan of that game so it was prefect thing to try.  At first scaled it down by 50% just to see.  That one I add supports to it.  Which really didn’t help.  Because when I tried to remove them, ended up break one of the wings.  The next day gave the full size model a go.  Without supports but added a brim.  This one turned out a lot better.  There is a few spots that need to be sanded.  Over all am very happy how it turned out.  Do believe it took a bit over four hours to print.

Elegoo Neptune 2 First Print

A few post back talked about assembling my Elegoo Neptune 2 FDM 3D Printer.  Well later that night after leveling the bed a few times.  Gave the test print a try.  That took about an hour (I think).  Once it was done.  I must say I was impressed on how well it turned out.  After letting it cool down.  It came right off the build plate without any trouble.  Now the next step is to find something cool to print next.

Elegoo Neptune 2 Assembled

Well today (June 27, 2021) I got my Elegoo Neptune 2 FDM 3D Printer assembled.  Took me a few hours.  Not because it was over complicated.  It was just the paper instructions were good but not helpful for me in spots.  Luckily there is an instructional video on the SD card.  That help out a lot.  Noticed that the print bed moved a bit.  There is a spot in the video that shows how to fix that.  However there is another problem that is not in the manual or video.  The printer doesn’t sit very level.  Seen on a Neptune Facebook page how to fix that.  There are four screws on the legs you loosen.  This will help it lay flat, then you tighten then back up.  My next step is to plug in the wires, level the bed and do a test print.  Will be back with another update. 

Elegoo Neptune 2 Received

It was a week ago that I ordered a Elegoo Neptune 2 FDM 3D Printer off Amazon.ca.  At the time it was estimated to arrive on the 25th (today).  But early in the week received an email saying the shipment would be delayed until the 28th.  Then on the 25th another saying it couldn’t be delivered.  However the a slip in the mail box to pick it up at the post office.  So went and got it.  My plan is now on next day off it to put it together.  There will be many more posts talking about this 3D printer.

Elegoo Neptune 2 Ordered

It was back in February (2021) that Elegoo announced the Neptune 2 FDM 3D Printer.  At that time they gave a list of Amazon sites and the prices for those countries.  Canada was one of them > here.  Ever since then would see this printer pop up on YouTube videos.  Was interested in getting one.  However ever time I looked at the Amazon page it would say “Currently Unavailable”.  Well the other day (June 15, 2021) randomly clicked that link again and see that there were three left in stock.   Was very shocked, then said if I don’t jump at this now I will miss out.

So ordered on right than.  All so get some PLA.  Not sure if it will be any good but it was an Amazon’s Choice product.  This one > here.  It four small spools of white, red, black and blue filament.  The printer should be here some time on for before this Friday (June 25, 2021).
