A Knight Of the Seven Kingdoms Review

A_Knight_Of_The_Seven_Kingdoms.jpgHave finished reading A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.  This book brings together three novellas written by George R.R. Martin.  The there stories are set in the same world as the Ice and Fire book series.  The events  take place about 90 years before that storyline starts.

The stories have to main characters, Dunk and Egg.  Dunk is a Hedge Knight.  Which means is a knight for higher.  Egg his is squire.  Each of the three stories are unique. Being written by Mr. Martin things are not as the them seam.  There are twits and turns you don’t see coming.  That is what makes his writing so great.  Enjoyed reading this book very much.  It is more the of what we love from the Ice and Fire series.  Just is a shorter form.

If you have read the Ice and Fires series and or just a fan of the TV show Game of Thrones.  Think you would enjoy this book just as much.  It is different by still has the feeling of the same world we all know.  Well with the money and time.

Martin called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms ever since I first heard about it.  So was very happy to unwrap a copy this Christmas.   The book brings together three novellas for the first time.   They are set in the same world as the Ice and Fire series, aka Game of Thrones. The stories take place about 90 years before that storyline starts.  Have read The Hedge Knight: The Graphic Novel.  Which is based off the first story from this book.   Which was pretty good.  So can’t wait to read the full stories.

The World Of Ice & Fire: The Untold History Of Westeros And The Game Of Thrones Review

Posted in Review's with tags , , , , , , , , on February 21, 2015 by getbent57

HistoryOfWesteros.jpgMade my way though The World of Ice & Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and The Game of Thrones.  The book is a little over 300 pages.  What makes this standout is the physical size it and all so the nice soft cover on it.  How ever the most important is the words and art inside.  It is write like it was all most like a school history book what would be used in the Game of Thrones world.  Which is a very cool idea.  The art is amazing to look at.  Even the look of the pages looks like its a very old book.  Which is very nice touch.

If you are interested in knowing more about the history and the world around the books or TV show.  It’s full of lots of detail.  Starting right from the Children of the Forest, the First Men, the Andal, Targaryen’s and right up to were the main books are.  There is lots of great info on the lands of Westeros, Essos and the people in them.  For the most part enjoyed reading this.  However had to forces myself though a bit of it.  Much like real history books some of it can be very dry or boring.  Over all it was well worth my time reading.  If you are a fan of Ice & Fire books or the TV show this book is worth checking out.

HistoryOfWesteros.jpgPicked up a copy of The World of Ice & Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and The Game of Thrones.  The book has new material from George R.R. Martin and a few other authors as well as full-colour artwork and maps. The book talk about how the world game to be.  All so the family trees for all the big Houses.  The store had it for 40% off the cover price, which is $58.00.  So couldn’t pass that deal up.  Flipped though the pages and the illustrations are very nice.  The book its self is very big.  A bit bigger than a video game strategy guide.  Will be back with a review once I am done reading it.

A Clash Of Kings Book Review

Posted in Review's with tags , , , , , , , on January 20, 2014 by getbent57

Just a few minutes ago on (January 16, 2014) I have finished reading book two in the series A Song of Ice and Fire, AClashOfKingsCover.jpgcalled A Clash of Kings.  Got these books after falling in love with the TV show Game of Thrones.  The first book was very close to the first season of the show.  Which was nice.  This second book was not as close to the second season of the show.  How ever like may book to TV/film they can’t but everything in.  The book has so much more.  Each character has so much more detail.  The biggest difference between the show and book would be Arya Stark.  There start and end points are all most the same but the path is a lot different.  I guess I should stop comparing the two.

Find it hard to find just the right books to read.  I am a terribly slow reader.  And if the books sucks or boarding I give up.  How ever this book series has pulled me in.  Love the way the chapters are broken up.  Each main character gets their own chapter.  There is all ways something interesting going on.  While I pretty much know what will happen it is still fun to read and see how it was meant be.  Looking forward to reading the third book in the series, A Storm of Swords.  I very highly recommend these books to any one.  Weather you watch the TV show or not.  These are awesome books.  They are the best things I have ever read.
