Just watched the documentary, Queen: Days of our Lives. It is now out on DVD and Blu-ray this week, January 24, 2012. Had know idea this was even made until I was going though the new DVD releases of the week. Have all ways liked there music and still listen to it to this day. Wanted to see this so I did a search to find out more. It was made for TV in two parts telling the story of 40 years of Queen.

Lucked out and found someone has posted it to YouTube (part one is below, follow the links at the end of each part to see the next). Have to say is is a very good documentary. Starts from the very beginning. From how they started out right up to the death of Freddie Mercury and then a bit more to what they are up to now. Every one in the world knows a few Queen songs so you can’t go wrong watching this.

Gotye – Somebody That I Used To Know

First heard the song Somebody that I used to know by Gotye from the cover version done by Walk Off the Earth. In the cover version where five of them play the song on one guitar. See that > here. It made the rounds round the net. They were even on Ellen. A week or so later filling though the channel and landed on the music one. The count down was on. The real version of the songs video was playing. The video is a bit different but hay the song is awesome.

Saints Row: The Third

Got a change to try out Saints Row: The Third on the Xbox 360. I own the second game in the series, it is an ok game. These games are known for the over the top game play and what not. Well The Third does this the best. From the moment it started up and playing the first few missions we were having a blast. We were laugh non stop at all the silliness. Has some of the best opening missions I have ever seen. The game runs and looks so much better than the second one. Seems to be more fun as well. All so got to just run around and do stupid stuff that was just as fun. Now I am thinking about pick up this game. Just have to get though the other games on my list first. If you are looking to check this one out. I think it is well worth it.

Underworld: Awakening Review

Just got back from watching Underworld: Awakening which was in 3D. Not sold on the whole 3D thing but that is a rant for another day. Have to say I have only watched the first Underworld movie when that came out back in 2003. If I remember right didn’t really like it that much. This is why I didn’t watch the others. Well I was nicely surprised that I liked Awakening. It started off with a nice bring everyone up to speed on what went on in the past movies. Then it starts and keeps a good pace of action mixed with little bit of story then followed by more cool action. Every bogged down once. Which I like to see in an action movie.

Enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would. Think I would have liked it more if it wasn’t only playing in 3D. Going have to go back in check out the other movies in the series. A friend was saying they were just as good.

Extreme Frontiers: Book

Was checking out my Facebook news feed and there was a post saying Extreme Frontiers: Canada DVD is available to buy off of Amazon. Well if you live in the UK. Want to see this show. Not sure if or when it will air here in Canada. May be the DVD will come out at some point here, I hope. There is some good news the book is available pre-order on Amazon.ca > here. Will be buying this book for sure. Have all his other books. Just not sure if I want to pre-order. The book will be out May 1, 2012.

Game of Thrones

Once again talking about Game of Thrones. Been reading the first book and really enjoying it. While I was reading then thinking about the show. The show follows the book very closely. Even using the same dialog. Not many movies or shows do this so it is great to see. Season two of the show starts in April 2012. Hoping to have the first book read by then because I do believe the second season based off of the second book. Not hundred percent sure on that though.

On they official Game of Thrones YouTube channel they have all kinds of season two production dairy videos. Which is pretty cool. There is a video (posted below) that is a wrap up trailer of season one that is awesome. This is a good video to show any one what and how great the show is. Remember season one is out on Blu-ray and DVD March 6, 2012. Then season two starts April 2012.

Cell Phone

I know everyone and there grandma has a cell phone but I do not. Have been thinking about getting one for awhile now. The problem is there are so many choices. What type of phone, the plan you want and or a contract. I know I do not want a contract. Have no trouble buying a phone. Just want a simple one to make some calls and texts. So looked into the pre-paid plans. Trying to decided what is the most cost effective and one that fits my budget. The websites are some what confusing. After looking at some the different carriers. Narrowed it down to Koobo or Virgin Mobile, well so far any way. Going to keep looking in to it. May be by the summer I might have one, may be.

Saw a very funny video today (which is below). It is from Rhett & Link. They guys make funny/music videos and what not. They have a bunch of great stuff on their YouTube Channel. If you check them out watch some of their “caption fail” videos. What they do is write a script, upload it to YouTube. Then YouTube adds closed captions which doesn’t work the greatest. Next the act out the script the right way then with the new script. Very funny stuff. They have a second YouTube channel that they use for their video logs.

Talkatone

Heard about the app Talkatone yesterday. It lets you make free calls and send texts using an iDevice like your iPhone or iPod Touch over WiFi or 3G. I have an iPod Touch so I had to check this out. Figured it hard to set up. It works by using your Google gmail account. If you don’t have gmail, sign up then install the GTalk thing inside you gmail account. You type in the phone number you want to call, hang up then sign out of the chat. Go to your touch, launch the app, sign in with you gmail account. Call the number you just did inside of gmail.

Pretty simple. Gave it a try with my home phone number. It worked right away. It was pretty funny that I was calling myself using an iPod touch. Now I am going to try and text a friend to see if that works. Will come back and tell you how that went.

[Update] Tried to send an SMS but didn’t work. Not sure why. Will have to look into it.

Top Gear Series Eighteen

It is official Top Gear series eighteen is starting January 29, 2012. Which is about a month after there Christmas special aired. Have been waiting for this series to start every since series seventeen ended. This is my all time favourite show. They put out a small teaser trailer (which is below). Looks just as good as all the other series. Wonder what kind of still things they are going to do this time around. Trailer > here.
